Would they have given you any trouble for wearing a helmet on a tourist day?

6 months ago or so, probably not, which is why I always wore a helmet out there. But lately they've been having issues with novices going out there in ill-equipped cars not knowing what they're doing, but still trying to set lap records and either crashing or just being a hazard to other drivers. Therefore, they've cracked down on things like helmets, in-car timers, data loggers, etc.

For example, if you went up to the gate with all that stuff Velcro'd on your dash, the marshallers would probably ask you to pull to the side and remove all of it before going out, or they would just not let you go out at all

Tethered and all???

It's never even been questioned at tech inspection for HPDE, which I'd take to be on a similar level of seriousness as touring days. Though I could see where the tethering itself might need to meet some standard over in Germany.

Norm, it's not the tethering that's the issue... it's the fact that it allows you to record data of your driving, which may provoke more aggressive driving on what is apparently supposed to be a "tourist cruising day". It's simply because of novices trying to push their limits too far to achieve a lap time and putting everyone else in danger. Although, it's a flawed system considering many cars (especially German performance cars) nowadays come with built in lap timers and data logging tools

So basically, it's not the fact of how or where you have dataloggers mounted, it's whether or not you have them at all
