I did look at the PSS Michelins, they run too small. That 295/35 is like 26" tall. Way too short. looking for a 28" or 29" tall tire.

Tire size might be an issue, but I run the BFGoodrich Comp-2s are they are pretty awesome. I have the A/S and they grip well enough for me, but I drive in rain a lot. You could easily run the sports since you don’t see that much rain. Just throwing another option out there.

I was in your shoes last spring, deciding to change out my MT DR's. After a lot of research I decided to go with the Continental Extreme Contact DW tires. I have been very happy with them driving this past summer, I have my winter wheels and tires on now. They ride well are not very noisy and have good traction. They can't compare to DR's but they give adequate dry traction and have very good wet traction. I think Continental replaced them with a newer version but you would need to check.

Well NT01's nd the Indy 500 are out. Tire size issues.

Anyone running NT05's? Wondering if they will do better than the G2's? They have a 295/45/18 which is about the size I need. Would really like to run a 305 but it looks like I'll have to go a bit smaller if I go away from a DR.

That NT05 sounds like your best bet honestly with your size requirements (which dont really make sense when you're not running DRs). They have to be better then the G2s for dry traction, Nitto wouldnt make them if they werent

NT01 are road race tires. Their treadwear is like 140. They'll last about as long as a drag radial.

I seen it on the internet, a guy with these continental extreme contact dws06 cut a 1.6x 60' at the drag strip with these which is quite impressive, and there was a video of it. Although I couldn't confirm the exact tires on the rear, they definitely weren't DR's, and I also believe the 1.6 from watching the video. maybe worth looking into.

Two reasons for the tire size. One, it keeps my gear ratio in check. Two, they just look sexy IMO. I like the way they fill up the wheel well

I think I am going to go with the NT05's in that 295/45.

The NT05s are a pretty old tire and really aren't that great compared to a lot of the other tires out there.

NT-01 are also noisy like snow tires. How much power does the OP have ? DR's work good, with some caveats, they don't corner well. A Nitto NT-555R has a tread wear rating of 100. The NT-05R has a read wear rating of zero. If you look at the treads in the NT-05R, there is hardly any there, its barely street legal, and probably a handful in the wet / rain. NT-05R is only 5/32" deep, when new.

The NT-555 G2 comes in either a 295-40-18..and also a 295-45-18 (28.46" tall). I can't see these G2's not sticking with his 460 rwtq and a 28.46" tall tire..even with his 4:10 rear gears)

I have the G2's on my Cobra and hate them. I can usually spin through second and occasionally part way through third. I was looking at the R888R for my next set of tires.

450ish for both. This one hasn't seen the dyno but a buddy with the same set up was 460/450ish.

I should add that we have the G2's on the 06 and they work fine. But that car is 99% stock. Just a tune and axle back really.

I meant to say nt05s not nt01, in my previous post. I’ve had great results with them for being an older design. The hook very well on the streets at my level of power. Granted being a turbo car might be helping out though since I’m not in full boost until the top end of first, but I can hammer down in second and they just grip and go. I noticed though right out of the box they weren’t all that great but once they got a few miles on them they’ve been awesome. I’ve read a few people say the same thing.

Those were the DW not DWS, I saw that on ACMR too. Those tires seem like they're not being carried at tirerack anymore?

I was running a 285/35/19 Continental ExtremeContact DW tire and cut a 1.59 60ft on it in a manual paxton 2014 GT with over 700hp.

I'd recommend them, but they discontinued them, because they replaced them with what's supposed to be an even better tire. These are not drag radials, and I had them on my car for around 24k miles before I sold the car and it still had plenty of life left on them.

The new ExtremeContact Sport replaced them. I haven't had them yet, but they're based on the same concept as the DW.
If you're just looking for a street tire that hooks well enough, I'd give them a shot. Here's the link to tirerack:

Oh whoa, people are talking about me. That was me on ACMR lmao. Here was the time slip.

I did have to slip the clutch pretty hard to pull this time, and they aren't "spin proof" by any means neither on the street nor at the track, but they handle VERY well for a street tire.

As mentioned above, I'd give the replacement ExtremeContact Sports a shot.

Well, went with the regular NT05's. We'll see how it goes. I have a sneaky suspicion that I will be running DR's again though. Just will have to deal with it.

That's how I'm feeling. I went with a street tire because I wanted something with more life. Now everyone time I stomp on it I wish I had just gone with the 555R's again.
