My biggest problem is not the money, I just don't look at the car and think "I gotta have one of those". I'm not going to buy anything that I have to talk myself into liking.

It looks like a stretched Chevette from the side. Blech.
Come on now. It's not that bad.
Ok, I'll concede that it doesn't look like a stretched out Chevette from the side, however, that's what it reminded me of.

Given that I haven't seen one in twenty years and had to pull up an image to validate the resemblance, I still don't feel much better about it.

Haha yeah that was the only point I was going to make. The cost of a new 2007 mustang GT was what, around 25-28k? Ballpark figure of course. The cost of even a base 2018 is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. I’d rather buy a used Shelby. Which would be the only other mustang I would purchase.

That's exactly what I did. It'll be a while 'till I get the power up where I want it, but, it's good enough in the mean time. AND... it looks like a Mustang.

The only late model S550 Mustang I'm looking to purchase. The Vette/GT350/GT500 don't do it for me, but a Bullitt... always. I sound like a goofball, but the Bullitt is just understated cool factor to me.

Just needs level 2 performance package wheels + splitter and it's perfect.

The exact reason why I have always loved the Bullitt.

Sorry, but it just doesn't capture the same spirit of the original "68" Bullitt like the 2008-09 40th-anniversary models did IMHO. I can also just imagine what this 50th anniversary Bullitt is going to cost once the stealerships add their ADM above MSRP. My guess after markup, probably between 65-70k. At that price, you might as well just get an "18" Shelby GT350 instead

I like the profile and rear but still can't get passed the fucked up front end. I'll gladly stick with mine. Like someone posted above, I don't want to have to talk myself into liking it and that's exactly what I have to do with the new one. If only Ford hadn't totally screwed up the front end of the s550...ah, who am I kidding? I'd never afford a new 1 anyways. Maybe 10 years from now, lol!

Yeah one of my best friends runs a new car dealership (not Ford) and is trading for a 2014 GT500 with 2,000 miles. Black/black with matte black stripes, SVT performance pack, Recaros, and electronics package. I can have it for low to mid 40's. List new was $65,000. I don't want a black car, but that's a LOT of car for the $. Plus it still looks like a Mustang.

If you can really get a 2014 GT500 with 2k miles for that price, you are crazy if you don't buy it. That would be a ~$50K-$55K car in my area. You could buy it, drive it for a year, and probably sell it and make some money.

As far as the new Bullitt goes, I love it! But I too, lament the prices of new Mustangs. I will probably never get another brand new Mustang. I loves me some Mustang as much as anyone, but like someone else said, there are A LOT of great options at that price point.

That's exactly what I'd be looking at if I was in the market for a Mustang - a 2013-14 GT500.

Well that didn't work out. My wife and I went to the dealership this morning and as my buddy was getting plates we found out someone from Louisville, KY. put a deposit on it. SOLD (but not to me)

I am a huge fan of the 08-09 Bullitt but to me this looks like a long BMW. The 08-09 had a strong lineage to the original. It was still a muscle car, not a pretender BMW like the current Mustang.

I guess I just said it out loud internet style. More than likely I'm becoming a grumpy old man lost in the recent past, lol.
I wouldn't knock it til you drive one. It's an amazing car. This is from someone who still kept his 07 GT500 and likes em both. The bullitt is the most un-BMW car out there. Amazing sound, manners and fast!

The '08-'09 Bullitt was as true to the original '68 movie car as you could get and I think Ford should have stopped there. People bought them because they were cool and they wanted a piece of nostalgia. Dynamically they weren't that good, and a 1/4 mile time of 13.7 @ 103 wouldn't get the pulse racing these days, but who cares? You could just pretend you were Steve McQueen every time you got behind the wheel, go nuts over the gorgeous soundtrack from the engine, and enjoy a more raw driving experience than you'd get from the current Bullitt.

I really think Ford did a great job on the 19 bullitt. I haven't had the pleasure of owning an 08 (yet) but they took everything from the 08 (the timeless cool, awesome color, nostalgia) and added some technology, upgraded the suspension, the recaro seats are great, some engine goodies from the GT350. Still a 6 speed manual, cue ball shifter, downplayed the badging, very raw engine sounds and 480 ponies. Someday I'd like to have an 01 and 08 sitting next to it.
