Took down all the outside Christmas decorations yesterday because I won't be back home for a couple of weeks - still working in Michigan and my wife lives in our place in Winston Salem, NC. Got up this morning to only 7 degrees in NC and got ready to leave. Everything was fine until my wife tried to fill the coffee pot. Kitchen pipes were frozen, everywhere else in the house was fine. I had to get on the road at 9 because 3 of the grandkids came down with me and 2 of them start school tomorrow so my wife had to deal with it.

She called me about 2 hours later and said it was all fixed. We had opened the cabinets so heat could get in, but we don't have a space heater. She decided to just turn the oven to the "self clean" setting. The heat from the cleaning cycle was enough to take care of it. Tonight she is going to leave the cabinets open, turned the basement zone setting up a little higher, and will leave the cold water dripping in the kitchen sink. Still going to be cold there (only 2 degrees here in Michigan - most of the trip back it was single digits).

Caught a stray cat last night. First of three that I have seen. On my way to animal control to drop him off. Gonna pull up the surveillance video and see when he hit the trap last night.

Started running Cat6A wiring through the house. Got the living room all set and one of the bedrooms.
We've been running Amazon Fire TV in the living room and Fire Sticks in the dining room and one of the bedrooms, and over WiFi they'd occasionally lose signal and freeze.
Over the wired connection the living room unit seems to load quicker and maybe even have better/sharper picture, and hasn't frozen yet, in the few days that it's been wired.
I was all apprehensive about terminating the cables, buying $40 crimp tools and all kinds of bullshit. Ended up buying long patch cables for less money than a long roll of cable would've cost, and after I run the cable I cut off one end and put a jack on it, which I then connect to a wall plate. Super easy. The jacks are tool-less units, called keystones, and I got them from Monoprice.com
Got a few more cables ordered today so that I can finish up the remaining 2 bedrooms and the dining room.

Tiling the shower in our old house. Just need to put up the trim tiles and then grout. Then carpet 2 rooms. Then paint the kitchen....
Then put up the for sale sign.

Earlier this week, my wife and daughter let me know there was something in the fireplace/chimney. A few years back, we had a couple squirrels get into the chimney past the flue cap that was a little rusty and falling apart. I installed a new cap and we haven't had that issue since. Until this week when one came down the chimney, I cut a cardboard plate to cover the glass doors (one open and one closed) with a smaller opening for the nose of a game trap to fit into the opening.

Then set whole pecans as bait in the trap by the far door with one as a teaser inside the fireplace. A few hours later, one squirrel trapped.

He's an angry little shit too! Barking and growling....

Yeah, "fun" ... we had 70-degree days here about 2 weeks ago, now this.
I was actually starting to think about putting the snowblower away, since it's taking up valuable real estate in-between the Mustangs in the garage.
We were on generator power from about midnight to almost 6AM since power lines got taken out by tree limbs at the end of our road.

We haven't been outside yet. Both my wife and I work from home (the web-design business in my sig) so we woke up, had breakfast, now doing a bit of work before going out to snow-blow, clean the cars, make a path from the street to the oil-tank filler/propane tank/generator.
Yaaaayyyyyy :/

Lol. It got to about 60 here as well and I also thought about putting stuff away but decided not to thinking that we my get more snow. Office day as well I am not stacking 40' of scaffolding today with it snowing and winding. God I think I may be getting old for saying that. Would have never said that 2 years ago lol. I have been thinking about asking about your web services as our website sucks the one we have now is just a temp. Long story with that. Enjoy the shoveling!

It's STILL snowing.
Haven't ventured outside yet.
Some of the neighbors have already been out snow-blowing.
We're getting ready to have lunch, and some time after that will go out and have our fun with all this white crap.

I was out for about 30 mins this morning shoveling, we didn't get enough or in a fashion to break out the blower, we had a lot of rain, so this morning maybe 2" for ice caked snow to move, now everything is melting with the sun and 40*+ temps

Whoever installed the garage door opener had it an angle. That angle caused it to sit low enough to block my truck from getting any further. Last night I raised the motor side about a foot and leveled the track out. I should have plenty of room to get the truck in now. Well, to work on it at least. I don't think the garage is long enough to park the truck in all the way.

Getting ready for this, coming tonight:

In my area in Southern NH we're being forecasted about 10-15" now ... I'm pretty much on the line between the 10-15" area and the 15-20" ..... so I guess I can expect right about 15" ...

Time to get the bread and milk !!!
