I bought a wideband ages ago and I’m finally going to install it. Do any of you have photos of your installed sensor. I know it can’t interfere with the upstream sensor and not to put itdirectly in front of those. Where did you guys choose and how’s it look? Just looking for ideas before I put holes in things.

I’m about to do mine this week also. I haven’t done it yet and don’t have pictures, but from all the reading I have done, the general go to spot is just after the collector on the drivers side and at about a 10 degree angle up. Hope that helps.

Shoot mine is literally sitting in the driver side rear 02 bung lol. I'm catless and mine are turned off. The passenger side is sealed with a bung plug. But you want in 2 o'clock or 10 o'clock position is preferred or 3 or 9 o'clock position. When I was catted and no longtubes I had mine driver side in the 2 or 10 oclock position depending on how you look at it. From the front of the car it was on the 10 o'clock position.

I've always run a wideband on the leanest bank, which in a OE S197 fuel setup would be passenger side (last side to get fed fuel). I was also catless with rear o2's off, so a bung plug in the D/S rear plug and Wideband in P/S rear plug. On my HF catted midpipe for emissions, I lined up the weld-in O2 bung with the rear O2 bung, and placed it just behind the rear o2 (since my HF cats were nuts to butts with the O2 bungs due to LT headers).

If it's a turbo car, it's a whole other story setting up a wideband. On anything else, just about anything within common sense will work.

Mine is in the passenger side rear spot, like the other's mentioned I am cat-less as well and have a plug in the rear o2 spot on the driver side.

Could you explain why P/S over D/S? And if you know who different numerically they may read, I’d like to know that too. I hadn’t heard there was a difference and I like to learn things.

It would run leaner because its the last bank to get fuel. The fuel system is returnees and the fuel enters the fuel rails on the driver's side.

Lito explained this really well to me in an email before that either side doesn't matter same fuel amount pretty much. I'll have to see if I still have it. But He knows mine is in driver side anyways, but when I get a triple gauge pod getting another wideband to put in the other side just because.

I'm not betting that the deadhead side is the lean side.

Uhhh huh? Lol this confuses me
He means the side to get fuel last doesn't affect that it would be leaner because pressure is pressure and if it's present than all the injectors are getting access to the same fuel at the same pressure and volume.
He has a point.

Maybe I’m just reading it wrong. I’m all confused now. Not at all arguing, I’m trying to learn. Two of my classes in school are finishing this week so I’ve been cramming that and my brain is a bit fried. Maybe that’s why.

Long story short, when I put my Wideband in this weekend, just go to the downstream passenger side?

either side is ok, I've had mine in both. Since it's post H or X pipe it's getting a mixture of the two sides anyhow.

Right on. Thanks man. I was thinking drivers side just for simplicity of running the wire from the drivers side AC vent near the door, through the firewall and to the O2 bung. The shortest path possible and not having go over the exhaust and worry about melting the wires or stuff coming loose.

Exactly why I did the drivers side. Was a very easy install once I stepped away and actually took time to look at the wiring diagram and get the relay fuse lol. What wideband did you get?

AEM X-Series. I’m dumb as a bag of rocks with electrical stuff so we will see how this goes.

Hahaha same. That's why I'm going for Mechanical engineer instead lol. For my innovate I needed to purchace my relay and used one of those fancy fuses adapters and plugged into the fuse box in passenger foot well.

I can take some pictures shortly and send to you for refrence if you'd like. Also I'm up there march 2-4.

The X or Y answered the question. Only one is needed. Can be mounted to either side..
