Has anyone had any experience with this CAI? Better yet has the performance improvement Holley claims (17 HP & 16 ft lb torque) been verified independently? If I'm reading the fine print on the dynamometer charts, it appears these gains were made with OEM tuning & headers. Some aftermarket Hooker axle back exhausts are noted for both the baseline and then for the final pull with the CAI installed.

I've been hearing (and believing) that there were no gains to be had with a CAI unless accompanied by a tune. Holley's results seem to contradict that. I've always considered Holley a reputable outfit, so this intake has piqued my interest.

It's not going to make that kind of power increase without a tune. The ECU can't compensate that much on it own. It needs a tune.

There isn't much info on that web site. No tube size, so it sound to me like it's a no-tune required cai.

They only dynoed it in 4th gear which isn't 1:1. That squeezes the data.

That's a hell of a turn out the filer for the air to make.

There are a lot better ones out there, from my experience.

Most modern vehicles pick up 15-30HP with just the tune. The factory CAI is so efficient that it's getting hard to beat.

The factory airbox is anything but restrictive unless you're making irresponsible amounts of power.

Now, if you want an aftermarket airbox to dress up the engine bay, that's a different story, but don't have any delusions about it actually increasing performance.

Holley's been around a looooooooooooooooooooong time. Guessing this is good stuff, but definitely would like to see the "proof in the pudd'n" w/those projected gains.

Just because they've been around doesn't guarantee anything. There is actually no way a CAI can make power alone in this application. The CFM the engine can ingest is already outflowed by the stock CAI. Unless you change the airflow demands of the engine, nothing to see here.

Unless I am reading the dyno charts at their site wrong, they are claiming there's no tune installed to get this gain. This is the claim that got my attention.

Take the first reading with a heat soaked engine. Let the engine cool and install aftermarket CAI. Wala, instant power because of aftermarket CAI.
