Not sure if Vorshlag is still offering them. (I know they were having issues with the people who helped make certain parts) so what do you guys find to be a great SS line for heavy abuse?

07 GT non brenbo brakes if that helps.

I used the Russell setup on my '11. Crown also makes them and you can get them in color.

Do these things really make a tangible difference?

If you are running on a track or doing autocross where you are heating up your brakes and fluid, I wouldn't be without them. Rubber lines expand under heat/pressure and can blow. Also susceptible to breaking from rocks, rubber, debris... Pedal is firmer with braided lines. When I had the factory calipers on the front I melted the rubber seals around the caliper pistons from heat.
I upgraded to StopTech 4 pistons on the front with Frozen Rotors, and I'm currently using Ferodo Racing DS2500 pads all around, great pads for both street and track...

I now check my caliper piston seals before every track day...

Honestly, I've found a good set of pads makes a bigger difference in pedal "feel" than stainless brake lines does. But if you're driving your car hard, they're a good upgrade.

Agreed. In my 2011 GT I went from the stock brakes with track pads to the FRPP Brembo upgrade kit (calipers, 14" rotors, oem street pads, and SS lines) and the pedal actually got softer. I now use proper track pads in the Brembo setup for track days and pedal feel and firmness has returned. No harm doing lines but I think Sky is right pads make the bigger difference.

Also, if you are looking to upgrade your base system brakes for track days - which is very worthwhile - your lines are probably the least of your problems.

I agree. This is just a supporting mod.

I am already running GLOC R8s.
Car has JRS RS1s coilovers, Vorshlag Cc plates, BMR spherical lower and upper as well as a spherical diff bushing.

Next year is the jump to 315s or 335s on all 4 corners.

Those sound like some pretty serious speed mods. I would think about a more substantial brake upgrade, either to the FRPP Brembo kit or something else. But it sounds like you are getting well beyond the capabilities of the stock brakes.

I agree with this, you will definitely need to upgrade from your stock calipers, as well as brake lines, especially if you plan on getting on any high speed tracks such as Road America. If you are just doing autocross in a parking lot, maybe not quite as critical, but on a high speed track under heavy braking your brakes will heat up and fade quickly. I personally recommend StopTech as I have the 4 pistons on the front of my car and they are awesome.

I currently have StopTech 4 pistons on the front and stock calipers on the rear(which I have replaced once so far for melted piston seals). My rotors on front are Frozen Rotors Cryo Slotted, rear are my stock Roush slotted rotors. Pads I was using Hawk DTC 30 on front and HP plus on rear, but last year I switched to Ferodo Racing DS2500 pads. They have a lot less squeal than the hawks and are easier on the rotors, with the same if not better bite.

I toasted the stock 2-piston sliding caliper brakes from Autocross, and that was when I was first starting out and not as fast.

The 4-pot Brembos with good lines, pads and rotors are a brilliant upgrade and are really all that's needed for any amateur level of corner-carving, from autocross to track days. Some good brake ducting available from a variety of vendors might be needed for track days.

The other advantage of the Brembos is that you can swap pads very easily, allowing you to use a variety of pads for different uses.

The 6-pot Brembos from the '13-14 GT500 are extremely heavy, difficult to fit inside of a lot of wheels, and are only marginally better at heat dissipation and stopping power than the 4-pots with good pads.

Now, if you're driving competitively in time trials, W2W, etc, then you might need something more hardcore.

I called Vorshlag on Monday and was told that dies and certification to produce DOT approved SS brake lines is currently in the works.

Yeah next year I want to get the brake upgrade from Vorshlag. I love the GLOC pads I am running now but will need more bite soon. Ducting is in the works soon also. Hoping in the next 2 years I will have this for a track/autocross only car.

I'm waiting for Vorshlag's SS lines to become available. will upgrade to that and the 4 pot brembos next year. Right now I'm still running stock calipers with better pads and rotors and I just added a Ducts last month for better cooling. Noticable improvement with the cooling ducts at NJMP Lightning a few weeks ago. Will be replacing the 10 year old factory brake hoses tomorrow with the FR M-2078-MB upgrade kit for now.

This should get me by till the big brake upgrade I hope. I'm starting to get faster. best lap 1.26 ,Avg 80.2 mph max 112.2
NJMP Thunderbolt in 2 weeks. woo hoo!!!!

I'm curious why you guys think Vorshlag's unreleased SS lines are so great and why you would wait for them?

StopTech are one of the most highly used brakes in racing, are proven, and currently available....
