I thought by larger they meant the ball joint unit itself rather than the stud diameter. Unsure as to whether I should upgrade to gt500 arms or boss 302 ones and change to coyote spindles as well.

Gotcha. I thought the ball joint base diameters were the only difference. Looks like I will be on the hunt for spindles!

As luck would have it, it seems that a bolt broke off and jammed the water pump pulley against the water pump. The car runs great now, just have to chase down a few small issues before it's 100% again. Thanks for all the help!
