    Electrical Wows

Where the bulbs leds? I tried using leds for the license plate lights, and the circuit decided it didn't like them (would blink twice when arming alarm just like the normal bulbs, but would not illuminate when running lights were on). I put standard bulbs back in and they work fine now.

HELP!! Transmission's stuck in 3rd gear!

I had a 5sp Ranger tranny do something similar to me - it turned out to be that the "hub" portion of the synchro cracked in three places, causing it to "grow" a little in diameter and bind up the syncro ring. I have no idea how it happened (I had let a friend use my truck), but I did have to...

06 Gt Hot Rod cam install

Be prepared (time wise) to replace one or both of the cam phasers. I wouldn't necessarily buy them ahead of time, but those phasers are a little on the delicate side, especially once you've taken the bolt out.

No worries. I ended up going a different direction, but thanks for getting back to me.

I saw your post from back in Nov to a thread about a member with a stuck bolt in a lower control arm where you mentioned that you have a EPAS rack from a 2013 GT that you are looking to get rid of. Are you still looking to get rid of it? If so, how much do you want for it? Thanks, Rob

    3v parts: heads, sc'er, TR6060

Are the heads the '08 and up version (full thread spark plugs) or the "07 and earlier?

Do you have any paperwork to go along with the heads? Also, I assume the cam caps come with them - what condition are the camshaft bores in?

    Cheap 2010+ Door Mirrors

I think you are looking for '10 only (with no convex sub-mirror) as the '11-'14 had the mirror-in-a-mirror effect.

Buy one roll of toilet paper get M-5300-K Spring kit with FRPP Dampers and Shelby Strut Mounts FREE!

I don't mean to be a thorn in your side, Rick, but I just want others to understand the physics involved. A quick internet search on "coli spring rate" brings this up: "The calculation to find the rate of a coil spring is: 11,250,000 times the wire diameter to the 4th power divided by 8 times...

    Clutch line heat soak???

I agree with Juice - I think the OP may have a different problem than heat soak.

Buy one roll of toilet paper get M-5300-K Spring kit with FRPP Dampers and Shelby Strut Mounts FREE!

Not to cross-talk on someone else's thread/post, but Rick is wrong about how progressive springs work. ALL the coils compress at the initial rate, but once the closely wound coils bottom out, the remaining coils have a HIGHER spring rate because now the remaining length of the "torsion bar" is...

    Valve cover mishaps

FWIW, the cast aluminum material the valve covers are made of is nearly impossible to weld (I think the oil impregnated back side corrupts the weld as soon as it starts to get good penetration). I'm surprised they got is as good as they did.

Bad 4.6. Rebuild or buy used or buy rebuilt?

I think the spark plugs are different (better on the '09), but other than that I think you'll be fine. You might want to strip both down to the long block, and transfer all the '05 parts onto the '09, just to be sure. Plus, that way you'll have a good opportunity to check for any other impact...

Bad 4.6. Rebuild or buy used or buy rebuilt?

Hard to argue with the $800 used motor (limited by con rods to 450ish HP), other than you can put that $800 (plus a little more) and build yourself a solid motor (H beam rods) that would be a solid foundation if you decided to do forced induction later on (500 HP and up!). Like others have...

Contemplating FI 4.6 into '12 V6 car - looking for input as to what ECU to use

I guess my limiting factor will be getting it through emissions. I think I can get the VIN flashed into the '07 ECU that I have, so as far as the emissions computer is concerned, the VIN would match the VIN on the registration. Then, with no check engine light on, it should be okay, I think?

Contemplating FI 4.6 into '12 V6 car - looking for input as to what ECU to use

Yeah, we have emission checks here in Tucson, so I gotta work with that. I have the block, crank, rods (Manley Cobra) and pistons, and I even have a couple of different 4V heads to pick from, along with a Termi intake fitted with a GT500 blower. My goal is about 800 "hero" (water-meth...

Contemplating FI 4.6 into '12 V6 car - looking for input as to what ECU to use

Thanks for all the input, guys. This wasn't meant as a troll post, I mostly wanted to get guys opinions on ECU choice, but the other points that were brought up are good ones. I will post in this forum if and when I start my engine build. :)

Contemplating FI 4.6 into '12 V6 car - looking for input as to what ECU to use

I'm collecting parts for a dream swap of mine, stroked 4.6 (to 289 cubes) with 4V heads and a compound boost roots supercharger/twin turbo set up. My question is which ECU should I go with, the GT500 (07-11), or can I use a '07 4.6 ECU that I picked up used?

Can the TR-3650 be dropped without draining the fluid?

I used the Pennzoil Synchromesh in mine to get rid of a 1-2 grinding, and it has greatly reduced said grinding (170k on tranny). IIRC, that fluid is a lot like ATF (thickness wise), and I believe it is a full synthetic, so I don't think it should break down very quickly. All I can say is that...
