Guage cluster swap 2005 to 2018?

I did this exact thing with a 2005 and 2018. I had to cut both the dash and Guage cluster to make it fit. It's roughly the same size, so nothing severe, but the angles and connection points are different.

    2006 Mustang GT - S550 interior, 7.3 Godzilla, 10r80

Thanks, I also looked up the wiring diagrams, but couldn't figure this out as the locking mechanism and windows had disimilar/asymetric wiring setups. I also tried to use the 2018 fuel tank entirely, but when I put the car on the ground, there wasn't enough clearance for the drive-shaft. So I...

    2006 Mustang GT - S550 interior, 7.3 Godzilla, 10r80

Thanks for sharing. This is both inspirational and informative. I'm doing something similar, only without any of the expertise you have. I'm especially having trouble getting the heater box and door motors/switches to marry up with the donor vehicle CPU and control module. It looks like you...

Is a tune always necessary? Gen 3 Coyote swap

Thanks for the advice on spending $, but still doing the research to learn more about this hobby/passion.

Is a tune always necessary? Gen 3 Coyote swap

Im putting a 2018 gen 3 coyote in a 2005 chassis. I've used nearly everything from the donor vic: to include tranny, exhaust manifolds with cats, CAI, PCU, etc. However, the gear ratio in the pumpkin is 4.10 and the 2018s have something lower (I think 3.55). It's a manual transmission; do I...

Return vs returnless fuel system 4.0 to 5.0 Gen 3 Coyote

But in all the YouTube videos I found, it was always a 4.6 to a 5.0 Coyote; not V6 4.0 to the coyote.

Return vs returnless fuel system 4.0 to 5.0 Gen 3 Coyote

Quick question for the group: is the 2005 4.0 a returnless or return style fuel system? The reason I ask is I've put a Gen 3 coyote in it; I barely know what I'm doing, but I know the 2018 donor car had a return style fuel system. I've installed the 2018 donor evap system and the fuel pump...

    Which refrigerant to use

Thanks. That's helps with the decision.

    Which refrigerant to use

Thank you. I'm wanting to use the old stuff since it's more efficient, available, and I have the right equipment to charge the system. Is the reason the shop manual calls for the R1234yf because the charge ports only match that type and because it's better for the environment? Or will R134a...

    Which refrigerant to use

...and since I have lines from both systems, I have fill ports for both R134a and R1234yf.

    Which refrigerant to use

I'm on the final steps of the coyote swap. Hope to start it up tomorrow. But first... I need refrigerant. The owner's manual for the Gen 3 motor says to use 1234yf Refrigerant, but the 2005 system used the old stuff. The compressor and half the lines are from the 2018, the condenser and...

    Radiator capacity/size for a swapped 2018 Gen3 5.0 into a 2005 V6 base model

Hello, I'm putting a fully dressed Gen 3 5.0 into a 2005 V6 Base Model. I'm guessing I need a better radiator, but could probably recycle the fan. Or is the '05 V6 stock radiator enough for daily driving and 3-4 AutoX and TrackDays per year? Can I reused the fan already in the car? If not...

Early S197 Coyote Swap Break Down

Thanks Matt for the videos. I watched them all and subscribed. I'm putting a Gen 3 from a 2018 into a 2005 base model. I'm super excited as it's completely over my head and beyond my skillset (youtube trained). I'm doing the swap with my 18 year old daughter and she is set on putting the...

    8.8 rear end swap

Thanks. As you know, installing the flange is one of the first steps to putting it back together and seeing if it fits to the drive shaft is one of the last.

    8.8 rear end swap

JimC, this thread has been dormant for a while, but wanted to revive it for some help. You're the only person I've read that says some of the newer S197s already have the right pinion flange. Was hoping you could expound on that. I'm rebuilding an 8.8 rear end from a junkyard V6 2014 to install...

Center of Gravity in Relation to Instant Center - '09 GT500

More good stuff. I think I'll confirm the assumed numbers (CoG, Spring rates, etc) before I drill holes. This is a lot to chew on; I thought the LCA were parallel with the car's centerline. Thanks.

Center of Gravity in Relation to Instant Center - '09 GT500

Great stuff! I had to take an hour and look up what Axle Rollsteer was and its causes. It kind of makes sense, but still am not fully grasping how PHB travel/height/length affects it. I'll keep chewing on that. I took another look at the axle contact point for the UCA and noticed it was...

Center of Gravity in Relation to Instant Center - '09 GT500

By the way: if I plug in your guestimation for the center of gravity (60, 22), I get 7% anti-squat now, and 70% anti-squat if I choose the lowest setting of the relocation bracket. Without knowing too much on the subject, 70% was my rough goal. Seems like you're recommending 30% as a good goal...

Center of Gravity in Relation to Instant Center - '09 GT500

This is really helpful. I completely agree about the goal. I'm not trying to get to 100%, just looking for an improvement over the current setup which has a LCA at a slightly negative slope. Before I did the math, I assumed the relocation bracket might bring the anti-squat from 30% to about...

Center of Gravity in Relation to Instant Center - '09 GT500

Does anyone have a reference to find the center of gravity for the '09 GT500s? After measuring the contact points for the rear suspension, it looks like my instant center is 84" in front of the front tire (I have 20" staggered rims - so the slope of my LCAs is surprisingly negative). I purchased...

I searched. 07 auto new to me trans, suspension, maintenance questions

I had an annoying squeak coming from the rear, passenger side of my 09 GT500. After a long search, the solution was boom mat on the frame under the rear seat, side wall, and the space in between. The squeak is completely gone and less road noise too (of course, I did both sides). Well worth...

How to fix door lock wiring/signal?

Both the remote and door button will lock both doors, but they will only unlock the passenger door. The driver door will only unlock with the key or by pulling the inside door handle. I replaced the lock actuator, but that wasn't the problem. Any ideas?

    Borla Axleback Repair?

Done. Attached is the picture of the weld. It looks and feels solid. However, if anyone has the same issue later, just make sure they weld it at exactly the same angle. He welded it maybe one degree different and now it doesn't sit exactly in the center of the opening (in the bumper) anymore...
