That's true, but seems hard not to tempt fate. That's why my last 4.6L engine was built to take 1,000 HP, but I was running NA at 400 HP. As long as I wasn't an ass with revs and aggressive timing, that engine could have lasted forever. I think Dallas is still racing with it, and he bought it...

I'd also like to point out before any new or somewhat new people try to question Thump's statements, not only are there dozens upon dozens of racers that have been here and proven their salt, Thump is also an engineer who has been designing race and performance parts for cars (S197's...

I've always loved your car. I feel like it exemplifies all things American Muscle. You're consistent, I'll give you that. LoL

eh... if you do the refresh like you say you are... you are basically going to have a new car anyway. If you haven't had gremlins by now, I doubt you will. BTW... if you are doing a suspension refresh too, I would check on ball joints, A-Arm bushings, track bar bushings, and rear upper and...

I hear you. Makes sense. If you like the car, that is what's important.

I didn't say I blew my motor 3 times in 70k miles. I said I rebuilt it. And yes, I raced 1/8 and/or 1/4 mile drags 2 or 3 days a week 3 seasons a year for 3+ years with that car up and down the east coast. I did blow 4 stock transmission though. Sticky tires and 30-40 hard launches a week at...

pull motor and trans or just motor

If you have access to a 2 post lift (maybe a buddy with a shop or hobby shop) you can drop the motor and trans out the bottom in one piece, still connected to the k-member, in about 1.5 hours. Once its on the table, you can do everything you need to with no car in the way... than about another...

This is just my opinion after doing 3 motor builds in 70,000 miles a 2007 S197 GT.... You are going to need between $7k and $10K for a good blower and installation. If you are going to "try" to boost a 2007 with 100k on it to 450 at the wheels, be sure you have at least $10k put aside for your...

    Modern Muscle Cars?

I'm in the same club. In the late 80's-early 90's I had a 64.5 Mustang I saved from a scrap yard and a 78 Nova coupe. The Mustang was totaled before I bought it. I did a shit ton of work to in... but when it was done, it looked sexy as hell, had a Windsor 289 and a 3 speed manual trans out...

The PIC WHORE CLUB!!! Knock before you Enter!!!

I had them on one of my 2013 GT's. I loved them. They look great in person, but if you get them, do yourself a huge favor and use aluminum rivets, not the fasteners they provide. I had to do the install twice because after it rained a few times, I got sick of cleaning rust off the grill. The...

    Modern Muscle Cars?

How do you think Muscle Car owners would respond to a 2014 GT500 magically appearing in 1969-1970. Would they crown that car the ultimate factory stock muscle car ever? Remeber, C3 Corvettes only had 180 HP and even less torque. A blown 650+ street car was damn near unheard of for the average...

    Modern Muscle Cars?

I recently drove a 1955 Chevy Wagon (Nomad). Car runs high 14's in the 1/4. I got it to about 80 mph and wondered how I was still alive. I may be buying a completely unmolested 65 Mustang in the next few days. Depend on if the guy comes down on price or not. Can't wait to own that car.

    Modern Muscle Cars?

This is true... but it is still exported to Europe. The point of me mentioning that isn't to discount Australia, but to highlight the fact that the muscle car era occurred in the UK the same time it happened in the US. Even though gas is insanely high over there, Europeans still love muscle cars.

    Modern Muscle Cars?

For the guys saying that the muscle car doesn't have to be American... I would agree with that. But for it to be an American Muscle Car (American Muscle)... it does need to be American. I read that when the original muscle car (originally called Super Cars and Sport Cars) era started in the US...

    Modern Muscle Cars?

Hey guys, over on the Challenger forum, someone got an idea to start a thread to define what a Muscle Car is. Some are saying the modern cars like the Mustang and the Challenger are not muscle cars because of parts or assembly being done out of country or not meeting the original "concepts"...

Miss fire cylinder 8 & White smoke

I thought they finally got the #8 issue under control. If it is tuned, someone wasn't paying attention. Hope it wasn't a supporter here. It will turn into a bitch fest finger pointing extravaganza.
