Valvesprings/Valvetrain for extreme duty NA road course use:

ironically, that motor later shortly failed, iirc. As fun as dropping $45k sounds (and would love to know where to find said $45k), I won't be doing that any time soon. Either way I have to fix this car to sell it or keep racing it, so the thread's chase for information is valid regardless of...

Their take is the boss spring and run a base GT manifold and build the car around that shorter powerband. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Valvesprings/Valvetrain for extreme duty NA road course use:

there's a shocking lack of information out there about the coyote valve train and its requirements to work reliably in a road course environment. So much so to the point where people either are willing to guess and try random parts (usually at their own peril with mixed results), or stick with...

    Set of 4 H&R spacers

I hear ya. I thought about buying them and pressing out the integral studs but ultimately I'll just find the right set for me (I run extended studs on the race car and will be fitting some 10.5" bbs ford wheels and 18x11" et52 wheels up front and both need in the neighborhood of 20mm Sent from...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

spambot aside, this is resolved. Oil pump had scored faces, despite there not being notable material in the oil filter. Put a stock pump in and the noise is eliminated. Working out a replacement pump with the aftermarket supplier. Strange for a new motor to have an issue like this, as typically...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

Put it in the air today and listened from below while someone revved it. Two noises both from the front and seem related to the timing chain. There's definitely some more rapid clacking noise when revving down suggesting the timing chain has excessive slack and particularly on the passenger...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

No heater core on this car, hvac and heat removed. Could be water related though it's happening with the belt off. Could there be air? Sure. Headgasket is also possble I guess

500 miles on the motor. It's due for its first oil change

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

Went over it again with a screwdriver top and bottom but can't tell at idle. Once it's warm it really makes noise though. Drove it around and it was fine though my water leak is picking up so a project to track that down. The pan plug did have some metal on it but what i would consider mostly...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

I've listened to dozens of timing noise videos and nothing really seems to sound the same outside a F150 video that had a similar whine/moan to it though very audible at idle (3.5L). I've heard oil pump gears be mentioned, phasers, etc. I'll pull the oil pan plug tonight and look for excessive...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

Pulled the belt and ran the motor to warm, but noise persists. Rules out the FEAD belt system. It definitely starts once the water temps reach 140 or so.

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

So I took the covers off and couldn't find much. The cam lobes all look great, the secondary chain and tensioners look fine on both sides. I can very slightly pull up on the chain on the secondary tensioner but not enough to relieve pressure against the guide so they are nice and tight even...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

factory secondary tensioners in their factory positions (not inverted). I've had my issues with their stuff, but if this is timing related, its mostly ford parts which I thoroughly inspected (and I verified the timing of this motor myself and did not encounter issues through that process)...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

An update: I haven't pulled the covers yet, but I did go around the motor with a screwdriver. There's some mild clacking on the passenger side valvecover (sounds like lifters, or possibly chain related), but I didn't have anyone to press the throttle while I tested. I did get a more clear...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

are there known issues with them? is it possible I'm hearing noise from them being different in dimension of the links or hardware? (IE scraping over something to create the moaning). Its easy enough to change once I have the front cover off, but a pity if I have to go that far. I'll pull the...

Timing area weird noise: (not the tick, not a rattle)

New motor, now 500 miles into break in without significant issue (could use a neutral profile correction). However since I've had it running, there's been an odd noise, varying in volume with oil temperature and runtime coming from the timing cover area. It can be subtle to very loud (enough to...

    BBR TUNE

Logged mine numerous times and even had it on a dyno where even the operator could determine the detonation. Nothing like pitted and cracked Pistons though to make it official. Though I should have paused at: "blow by racing". They certainly deliver on the name.

I miss my original motor. Thanks BBR, I didn't need it or the huge pile of cash needed to replace it. Dat detonation doe. #probbr #whatknock?
