05-09 mirror-mod, this is an easy mod to get ambient air temp on your mirror. go to junk yard get mirror from 99-02 chevy truck\tahoe\suburban. make sure it has the flat 7 pin connector ( its the same in your mustang ) also get the temp probe they are located in the front of the vehicles on the radiator support. make sure you take plenty of lead of both the mirror connector and temp probe sensor. separate wires from pin 6 and 7 on the mirror connector and insert them on your cars connector ( see diagram ) run wires to front on car, i went through the hood release cable ( wicked easy ) tidy everything up and now you have outside temp displayed in your car.

Maybe I missed it in the first post...but will the directional compass be functional too? Very cool mod. I might have to do this. How much did the mirror cost you?

There is a plug in your wiring harness for a power mirror. The plug is tucked up under the headliner in your overhead console above the mirror. I believe all s197 coupes (not convertibles) have the wiring already in place.

I'm headed to the junkyard this weekend for this mod. I love junkyard nearly free upgrade mods. Reminds me of my old fox body lol

I bought a new Gentex mirror that's pretty much the same as the GM mirror in the OP (same manufacturer). I had no idea there was a harness already available! I installed my temp sensor in the lower grille. You can't see it at all from outside and I think it gets good clean air.

So, if I already have the Ford electrochromatic compass mirror, do I just need the sensor and pigtail?

And the GM mirror

That doesn't make sense. If the wiring connector is the same on both Ford and GM mirrors, and I already have the electric Ford mirror (which has the option for outside air temp, it's just not wired for it in the Mustang), why would I need the GM mirror?

I don't think our mirrors are set up to display the temp. My compass indicator takes up the entire space in the opening of the mirror surface. I don't see how the temp display is in there as well. Definitely a smaller display opening than on the mirror pictured in the OP.

Mine definitely has the temp display in there. It wouldn't display both at the same time, but there's a button to toggle between the two. Currently when I hit the button it toggles between blank and compass.

Ahh I never noticed that. My bad.
