My 1/8 mile trap speed is around 86-87 mph but I am running high 8s.
Is this because of my lackluster 2.0 60' time? It seems there are other Mustangs running 7s/low 8s with this kind of trap speed.

I am running a stock suspension minus the Steeda torque box reinforcements (previous owner put them on) and launching at 3k.

Yeah man, 60' times are crucial. The shorter the race, the more crucial the 60'. I'm guessing you're on street tires still by your 2.0 60', "which is pretty much expected from a street tire". A drag radial with a good burnout should get you into the mid-low 8's, and bring your 60's down to the 1.7-1.8 range. If your car is a standard, I'd get a dedicated set of wheels with bias ply slicks to swap at the track.

I have a pair of Nittos I can use. Do they require big burnouts to heat them up? How high of a rpm can I launch them?

I'd say you should be able to leave at around 5000 rpm. It depends alot on what gears you're running though. Last year with 3.31s I was leaving at around 6200 on et streets. But I've got cobra jet springs, lca's and relocation brackets.

You'll want to hold your burn out for around 3-4 seconds if your brakes will hold. I run 17 psi in my drag radials.

I imagine I would end up blowing the tires off at anything higher than 4k. I will need something stickier than Nittos.
Are you slipping the clutch at that rpm or dumping it?
