So I’m contemplating on changing my 2011 whippled 5.0. I am trying tomdecode between an ‘11-12 GT500 or a boosted ‘15 5.0.
I believe the ‘11-12 GT500 comes with a better black taking more boost, hence making more power. The ‘15 5.0 can def. put down power between (700-800 rwhp) on pump gas as i have been reading. (I COULD BE WRONG, please don’t bash me over this “fact”).
Both range the same price (depending on mods of course) a little help will be will appreciated.

(PICS FOR ATT)

Get the s550. Much more refined car. And I'm not a fan of the s550's, I have a buddy with a '15 mt82 car, full bolt ons, and gt350 intake, recently added a d1 procharger, 11.5 psi it made 730rw on pump.

My choice would be the GT500.
I still am not a fan of the 15-17 GT's, the GT350 looks good but the GT looks awkward to me. The 2018 GT vs a 2011-2014 GT500 would be a tougher decision for me.

Yes! This led me to think about aboosted s550i think it might be time for change!

Agreed! I would preferably look for a 15-16....the new model (‘18) looks very bizarre! I just cannot seem to love it!

I'd go for the GT500, it's a GT500 and it looks better.

Gt500 its a drivers car. I had a 2016 GT and i loved the interior, but it bored me to death. Nothing beats the instant torque of the 5.4.

11-12 has all the ugly plastic around the bottom, and the ugly tails. I forget the torque, but my buddies d1 s550 makes like 430rw at 3500rpm. That's bolt on 5.0 power BEFORE that blower starts doing work. 5.0's aren't torque monsters whether centrifugal or twin screw. If I wanted a 5.4 gt500 to play with, I'd go 07-09 due to the fact that IMHO, them, and the 13-14 are the meanest looking. 07-09 still has a slim/trim look to it though.

11/12 GT500's are the gem of the modern Mustangs in my opinion. Lots of drivetrain technology, an interior that will get you by, and it is stupid easy to make reliable horsepower. They are massive bargains compared to the 13/14 and make so much more sense if you're going to be modifying it.

The S550 is a really nice car as well. I would say motors can hold essentially the same amount of power. Interior is more modern and on the premium uses nicer materials than the GT500 but the GT500 interior is the nicest of the S197 gen.

I'm around a lot of '05 and newer Mustangs at work. We've done a couple 5.0 builds recently and they are fun, but our Shelby builds have blown them out of the water as far as cost and results. My dad has an '11 GT500 that's been our project for the last few years. I built the motor and had a TVS ported, made 877/800 at only 6300 rpm with rather minimal motor work (unported heads, 1 3/4" longtubes).

If you're going to put a lot of miles in town and driving back and forth to work, S550 with a 2.9 Whipple front feed.

If you're going to use it as a weekend toy and for road trips, GT500 with a ported TVS. Also will have a little better resale value which IMO is important in these comparisons.

No my 16 wasn't wasn't boosted. I didn't want to waste the money with the shitty MT-82 and horrible resale value GT's get. I am on my third Shelby and will not waste my money on a non SVT/Ford performance product, the resale value just isn't there to justify modification. The only thing i liked about the 16 GT was the overall ride quality. It was a great DD.

Speedboosted nailed it right on the head. You can't beat the price per HP ratio of the 11-12 GT500. Ill take a fully forged low compression motor any day for major HP gains.

A GT500 is cool because it's a GT500! But I couldn't leave GT500 stock as 11-12 could argue is only as fast as a stock coyote. But with that said a GT500 was built for boost. Yes a coyote can take it and many have no problems but was not built for boost. I would be scared keeping my stock coyote with a blower on them. I feel there is a reason why Ford drops warranty from 5 years to 3 years on a dealership bought boosted coyote.

I'd get an early cheap ass "terrible" GT500 (pre facelift,) and drop an aftermarket blower (probably vmp,) full huge exhaust, better clutch, shifter, 33 spline tru Trac, and very good coilovers on it. Simple look, brutal power. Probably grab some wheels, weld rt-s s71 polished, 18x9.5/18x11 or so.

So... Get the 11/12. Lots of votes for that! Just add taillights, valence.

This is a myth that needs to die. Not picking on you by any means, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Equal drivers, ta stock 11/12 will shit on a stock coyote. At our local drag strip, the fastest I ever saw a stock 5.0 trap was 110, I went 118 in the GT500 all stock (same night). Two coyotes there, one manual and one auto with both of them trapping 110. Not saying every stock coyote will only trap 110 because I know others have gone faster in perfect conditions, but this is real world vs real world.

I have a 1k+ rwhp, big Whipple GT500. A good friend has an 850rwhp, twin turbo, auto S550. Both cars are deep 9 second cars, but they go about it completely differently.

It depends on what you want to do with the car. They both have their strong sides.
