I have a 2006 Mustang GT 5-speed. Long story short, I am growing weary of rowing through the gears in my GT. I cannot afford a newer Mustang, and I really love my GT. I have been tossing around the idea of converting from manual to automatic, however, have heard that going from manual to the factory 5r55s requires much in the way or wiring and that the 5r55s is not very reliable. I have yet to see any standalone modules for this swap. I have however also considered installing the 6r80 from a 2014 GT 5.0. I have heard that the trans will bolt up to my 4.6 3v (will need a flex plate I guess). I see that LMR offers the crossmember and standalone controller for the 6r80 as well.
Has anyone done this swap? I especially from a manual to an auto? Any recommendations? I drive ALOT and am just over shifting..
