How many of you S197 guys also own or have owned a classic Mustang? I wanted to start a thread to show our love for those that started it all, so lets see what you got!

This is my 66 coupe. It was my first car back in 2002 and me and my dad have been slowly restoring it ever since! #s matching, completely rebuilt 200 straight 6, mint pony interior, trans rebuilt, suspension, only thing left is paint and body work!

First one I owned was a '67. Ended up turbocharging it. Used to work on nothing but classics. But the aftermarket is absolute shit. Suspension parts worn after two years, parts that don't fit and nothing but excuses from vendors. "We've never seen that before." Almost everyone gets their parts from the same overseas manufacturer. So you can't pay more for a better part. Just killed the joy in even looking at the damn things lol

Cool ride, OP!

I have never owned a classic Mustang, but the wife would love to have a 60's something model, maybe even get one to restore.

Same here. We've had talks about getting another mustang at some point and she keeps saying we should get an older one. I'd love to have an older mustang to cruise in.

I grew up with a 1969 Mustang Convertible 302 2v, mom bought it used in 1972 so was always my dream to own one day. Started out life as medium Jade green but on a moving truck coming to Omaha a bed frame cam loose and spent 1000+ miles rubbing up and down the drivers side. It was painted canary yellow and then eventually the blue it is below. I detailed the crap out of that car and put it in two World of Wheels auto shows (1986/1987), took 3rd place in "Post-War Convertible" the first year and 2nd I the same category the next year.

I started with a 1967 as my first car. Poor thing didn't last long as I went from a 1982 Ford Escort (moms daily driver) to a 289 2v rear wheel drive Mustang. Screwing around being a stupid 17 year old I hit a tree which messed it up pretty good. fixed it up and still drove it for another year but I had beaten it pretty hard.

Next was a 1970 Galaxy 500 4 door. Dark green exterior medium green interior and a 390 2v for a motor. Put a 428CJ intake and a 750 Holley on it and it ran like it was possessed! Ended up enjoying the newfound power a little too much and spun the timing chain letting off the gas after a spirited run. Engine made some weird clanking sounds and would never start again. I don't have any pics of this one unfortunately...

Lets see, next was a 1973 Grande, it was a 351 Cleveland 2v. It was Dark Green Metallic with baby shit green interior... Ended up dropping a valve racing it so rebuilt the motor and found a guy that was willing to trade me 3 Boss 351 heads and a Boss 351 intake for the 428CJ intake. The new motor ran A LOT better than the old one... drove it for a few years but ended up totaling it... sad times as I did a lot in that car.

I bought a 1967 Corvette convertible while I had the 73 Grande, it was to be an investment... but after I screwed the motor up in the stang it was either make the Vette the new daily and fix the stang whenever I could or sell the Vette so I had funds to fix the stang... it was late October and really didn't feel like driving the Vette in the snow so I sold it.

Next was a 1989 LX 5.0, that was my baby and if I could have any of my cars back it would be that one...

Then an 06 in Screaming Yellow GT, it was heavily modified... full Steeda suspension, supercharged, Steeda hood and bumper, and a Steeda Street Wing.

And now I am driving a 2012 Grabber Blue 5.0. I will post up some pics of the old cars when/if I can find them.
