holy cow

Yeah, that would be $1000 easy. Except now the 2nd set will be $200.

That clutch presses in?

It's just a regular 8 rib clutch pulley that I had to modify to get the right backspacing but now I will be running the DOB Denso..

No clutch on the alt?

I might make some 8 rib pullies this summer. I have a big okuma lathe that could crank them out at the rate of 30 an hour... unmanned as it's got a bar feeder.

I have a design ready to go that fits 05-10 3v Mustangs equipped with a TVS or M90 supercharger.

My guy says 5 figures to set it up but he's kind of a pessimist. I'll do some research as to what other setups are selling for, it seems like everyone wants pullies but nobody can make money selling them. The cheapest way would be a batch run from overseas, but I don't want to bother with that.

eighty6gt,

You did a phenomenal job on those brackets, it fits like a glove first try.. I am extremely pleased with your workmanship. All I have to do now is prime and paint them and it will look OEM - I love it...

Thank you very much!

Awful nice for something that won't ever be seen. Still not seeing why it wasn't done a week ago using a bench vise, a scrap of metal, a hammer and a grinder. Could have made one in less than an hour including painting it.

His finished product appears to be aprx 1/4" thick steel. Have fun bending 1/4" steel plate in a vice. Being that thick, you also have to factor in the bending radius, etc...which requires extra length. Dunno how thick it really has to be to work properly, I'm guessing 1/8" thick minimum. 5/32 or 3/16 would probably also work.
Dunno how much stress is on it either...in normal operation. Aluminum might also work, but I have not had success in the past, trying to bend aluminum plate at a 90 deg angle, it ends up with stress marks and hairline cracks, but that was using 3/16 al plate.

I bend a ton of 3/16 alu to 90 - .152 radius is about what it winds up at, not at work can't recall. 5052, which is cheese. Pretty decent material for semi structural stuff.

Glad the part worked!

I was bending the al plate in a huge vice.. with next to no bending radius.... abrupt, sharp 90 deg bend. I believe it was 6061-T6 plate..which is almost brittle. 5052 has a nice shiny finish, but it's yield strength is way down from 6061-T6. 5052 is a lot softer. What else that might work is 6061-T2 /3/4..... but I have never see it available in the lesser heat treated versions.

What I probably should have done is used a mandrel or small diam rod to bend it over, to make a more gradual bend...or perhaps used some heat 1st.

Al is fun to work with, doesn't rust, high yield strength. Easy to drill /machine / cut / weld/ cut threads into, powder coat, anodize, etc.
