Am i the only one who thought paint treatment when I saw this stuff? I'm curious as to what it would do to the paint and how long it would last under daily driving conditions. Assuming it doesn't attack metal/painted surfaces, my first thoughts are that this would be incredible on cars. Has anyone tried this out yet? I just bought a parts car for another project and I'm tempted to try this stuff out on it.

It dries a milky whitish color. not ideal for paint but a great idea

I'm seeing the same results in youtube videos right now. At the very least it may be something to consider for the inside of wheels or fender walls.

I'm also finding that it isn't all that durable, especially when it comes to contact with skin.

So after a bit of research, looks like I will not be using this on any painted surfaces and probably not on any areas of my cars. the technology is great, but it still needs some work before it reaches a level in which it's suitable for automobile use.

I'll bet that Rustoleum product would be perfect for keeping the back sides of your wheels free of brake dust and dirt. I currently use Armor All Wheel Protectant. Damn good stuff. I pull my wheels probably twice a year and treat them. Keeps the brake dust and dirt from building up.

I think someone posted about this a while back, before they teamed up with rustoleum. I'd love to have some around the house, could be pretty useful.

Ultra Ever Dry was the original name before teaming with rustolem. Supposedly, they are working on a clear finish. If they create a clear finish it might be sought after but I think I remember seeing that it would only last a few months. There are far cheaper sealants that last longer then that so the price would also need to come down. Opti coat is like $70 and last for years, not months.

There's many more options then just CG's second skin especially since it's one of their newer products. You have other coatings such as Optimum Opti-coat, Carpro CQuartz, and Gtechniq has a couple coatings in their line. These are the more common used coatings from what I have seen.

Also like supers low said you can go with a sealant which will last on average of 6-8 months give or take. With sealants you can usually get more coverage vs a coating and it's cheaper.

I'm not saying CG's second skin is a bad product but I'd look into others also and see if one fits you better
