Yes actually I do. Been replaced 3 times under warranty per TSBs. Still does it. Hence the nickname "Skipper 1000".

Unfortunately this is a very well documented problem with only one true solution. Swap it out with something better. Can't tell you how many CDs have become frisbees going down the road because they aggravated me.

Mine has actually been pretty good for almost 3 years... until just the past couple weeks. Guess it's time to think about replacing it.

Look at the upcoming Pioneer AVIC-F500BT as a replacement for your shaker. Looks pretty similar to the Ford SYNC setup but I bet it will actually work as advertised! :)

What brand do you use? I have found that TDK works very well. I use Sonic RecordNow! Deluxe to rip my mp3s from CDs.

So, I'm thinking I need to replace my Shaker 500, too. I do not want a high dollar, high end unit. All I need is something that has a sound quality no worse than the Shaker, and has 6-disc capability (for MP3 discs). I don't want to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for it either.

Anyone have any suggestions?

This Saturday I'm having an Alpine CDA-9886 put into my daily driver '97 vert, with Sirius. It's $300+$140 for Sirius tuner--cheap but a good reliable unit. It's also Bluetooth and HD radio ready, and has a CD player (only 1 at a time though), iPOD controller, steering wheel remote ready, etc. In the S197, I was thinking of pulling the Shaker 1000 and putting the same Alpine unit in, along with the Speed of Sound Radio Panel for a couple of gauges and some future use switches: http://www.speedofsoundllc.com/05%2BRadiopanels.html

Just an idea...

Thanks for the input John. The "HD radio ready, iPOD controller, steering wheel remote ready" are non-factors for me, and I'd prefer multiple discs. BTW, does that one play MP3 discs?

cd-r/-rw, mp3, aac, wma playback included. I'm not a real audiophile but I've got hooked on Sirius and the classic rock/blues stations, and use bluetooth for calls through my nav unit. Since I don't use my GPS everyday, I'd like to put in a semipermanent mike on the A pillar for phone calls while driving, and shelve the nav unit except on trips to unfamiliar territory (actually, we use it more to check gps speed against the speedos in our cars, and make adjustments against the reading).

Different strokes--I'll look in my catalog and see what units have multiple CD capabilities...
