Hey gents, got any suggestions on how to replace the 5th gear synchro on an 06' v6?

It's got 110k miles on the original clutch/flywheel and is only now having difficulty shifting into 5th cleanly. It's livable but certainly not ideal.

I had the same problem on my GT but it was under warranty then so I didn't ask any questions. But I'm afraid to take it to the stealership because I know I wont get out of there without a receipt for a grand.

Should I just live with it? Or when it gets too bad just bite the bullet and replace the clutch aswell while I'm at it?

Just buy a new trans.

I'm pulling my T5 out of my 07 within the next month hopefully. It's got 40k miles, You can have it if you just pay for shipping.

I had my synchros replaced by the dealer two years ago, If I was out of warranty I would just pick up a 6060 instead of spending money fixing the 3650, I think you can grab a 3650 on ebay for like 500 bucks.

The TR3650 is fine. Aside from user error, you'd be hard pressed to fuck one up N/A.

The 6060 is obviously a much better piece, but also 6x the price in some instances.

Went through 3 before TR6060, launch hard, powershift, and drive daily... it wont take the abuse.

Threw away time and money b4 making the right choice. Its not the bottom line in $, but VALUE for $.

Just trying to save op time AND $.

I'd place launching and powershifting under user related issues. If you don't launch on it and avoided power shifting it you can make a 3650 last a good long life.

Now you seem to be drag racing, I don't see the OP drag racing a V6 with 100k on the clock.

My second gear is almost totally shot and I just replaced the clutch less than 10k miles ago. Isn't the 6060 a six speed?

So tranny swap huh? Is that the general consensus?

If so, how many hours work? How much would it run me?

Would I be better off replacing it with a better trans?

If you have a v6 i'm not sure a GT tranny would be a good idea, now i'm not 100% on this but i'm thinking the whole gearbox is geared too low for the v6.

Just find a new T5. I swapped in a TR3650 into my v6 and I only did it because I'm gonna be running more power then the stock T5 can take; it is not worth it for a stock v6. The gearing is a little off(too low) but not bad, nothing some 3.73's or 4.10's wont fix. I have my stock T5 laying around with 30k miles on it, PM if interested!
