It's paid for and it's still fun to drive. So why are you sticking with your S197?
It works very well as a dual-purpose daily-drivable track toy even in its lightly modified condition. This month's Grassroots Motorsports magazine listed the S197 as one of their five track day picks for reliable lap running.
I'm not done tinkering with it.
It doesn't have many nannies. One of the ones it came with never worked worth a damn, another one doesn't work at all any more, and one was disabled in the second week I owned the car. I'm fine with that, prefer it that way actually.
It's fast enough for me (125-ish on the longest straight at the tracks I've run on), even though I know I could handle more speed and quite a bit more power. But I'd rather focus on dropping time through the corners than between them.
It's not even that hard on "consumables", now that I've upgraded the front brakes to the 4-piston Brembos.
It's paid for and it's still fun to drive.
