Anyone have a P2104 code thrown?

Car went into failsafe and shut down. Cleared the code and started up. Tried to drive it and as soon as I would depress the clutch the rpms would jump some and then failsafe again.

I was able to limp the car home about 5-6 miles by continuously shutting the car off and clearing the code while driving a dead stick. It would fire back up and drive a bit before it would repeat.

Some of the symptoms were:

The RPMs would jump some and then it would stall.
RPMs stuck at 3000 with no pedal applied
Small surges of the motor before fail safe.

Seemed to occur if I took the motor over 2000 rpm. Once I noticed this issue I was able to drive the last 1/2 mile or so with out an occurrence.

One other observation the silver cylinder that is on the right in the picture below seemed to be extremely hot:

There has to be another code along this one, some times the xcal won't read them, a proper scanner is needed.

I would start with a TB cleanup.

That makes sense but I dont have one.

As to the cleaning, where? the blades and mouth were very clean when I had the CAI tube off last month for a plug swap.

2104 indicates that the car is in forced idle mode as a consequence of other problem, but it does not indicates the issue itself, without any more info and other way to get more info out of it, I would go to check and clean the TB and check TPS and actuator connections/extensions (wiggle test).

Due to your post edit I add this, take that TB and check it how freely rotates, that is the step motor of the actuator, do you have electronics out of other TB?

I did check the connections, removed them snapped back in, also checked what I think is the pigtail extension to the TB actuator and they seemed all good. I do not have additional electronics.

Thanks Manuel.

Maybe someone can lend you some of an old TB, if the stepper motor gets hot quick, it may be stuck or hard to rotate, that would throw it into protection mode.

I agree that a bad stepper motor can cause the car to failsafe, I've seen it before.

Looking through the Ford Manual, they really want a second code like lito was saying.

However, if you skip all that they begin to test the accelerator pedal position (APP) sensors. After all the APP's check out okay they blame it on the PCM.

So, I suppose without the other code, I'd do TB testing. Wasn't someone on here offering you to use there TB. Maybe that will be an option. :/

I went from a super monoblade to stock to a vmp without a tune change. I wouldn't say lay into it, but at least see if the error went away.

Thanks Huffen

I think I have to pull apart the TB I have. the leading probable is the spring in the TB or the TPS

Did you carry over the actuator electronics from another TB? I had a simlair issue when i swapped to a GT500 TB and carried over my electronics, car ran great for 2 months and then woudlnt idle out of the blue. The actuator has a spring inside and that spring needs to be clocked 3 times or else i does not have enough down force to hold the blade at the correct pitch to keep an idle.
