I've broken my stereo install down into parts.
Stage 1 is the install of the door speakers and getting better performance out of the factory subwoofer.
Stage 2 will be installing the subs, amp, and associated parts.
JL Audio Stage 1 Install:
Parts:
(4) JL Audio CL-570x speakers
(2) Pairs of Speaker wire adapters for plug and play install
(1) bag of Polyfill (stuffed animal guts)
Tools:
1/4" Ratchet
6" Extension
8mm socket
6mm socket
7/32 socket
Panel removal tools (or small flathead screwdriver)
Start off by removing the access panel behind the door release handle with a panel removal tool or an offset screwdriver which will expose an 8mm bolt holding the door handle assembly to the door shell. Remove the bolt.
Next pry up on the window switch panel, being careful to focus on the front and rear portions, as these house the clips. Under the driver's side switch panel, there are (3) harnesses to disconnect.
Now you'll want to use the pry tool to pop off the little cover on the inside of the door handle (where you place your fingers when closing the door) which exposes another 8mm bolt. Remove the bolt.
Lastly, you'll remove the (2) 6mm screws from the bottom of the door panel.
The door panel is ready to be removed. Simply pull up and then towards you to remove the panel. Be careful to disconnect the power mirror harness on the driver's side door before taking the panel all the way off. Just pull it forward a bit and reach behind to gain access. The door release assembly will easily come off by pushing on the (2) "clips" on the front most part of the assembly. Push the handle through the door, turn it sideways, and pull it out. The door panel is now free to put aside.
Now that the panel is off, you'll see where the factory speaker is mounted. Remove the (4) 7/32" screws holding the speaker in place.
Disconnect the harness at the back of the stock speaker. Place speaker aside.
Grab replacement speaker, and connect the positive and negative connectors to the female end of the wire adapters. Now you have the same harness coming off the new speakers as were on the stock installed.
Simply connect the harness, and mount the speaker back in the correct alignment using supplied hardware or reusing the factory hardware.
Test for any issues before reinstalling the door panel...
