I really hate to be a complainer, but this has just irked me to no end. I bought a chromed MMD billet fuel door from American Muscle last August. Just recently, the chrome has started pitting and bubbling on it. I contacted AM about it and the response was, "Sorry, but the fuel door only has a 30 day warranty on it. There's nothing we can do." By the way, there was no literature with the fuel door stating that their "triple plated durable chrome finish" might only last for 30 days. I guess it just sucks I spent the dough for a POS. I have not had any luck contacting MMD directly to talk to them about it. The best I could get from AM was a 6% discount on another MMD chrome fuel door.....Yeah right!!

Chrome has not been good since the 70's , shit is spray bombed on shit metal in china on mongolia or some other fucked up place.
If ya want good chrome you need to find a custom shop .

My advice would be go through the manufacturer directly and make certain you have the terms of the warranty in writing and also stick with brand names in which your familiar with that are made in North America, rather than some fucking cheap knock off made in either Taiwan or Indonesia..

Agreed, I made a huge mistake getting cheap, POS component from China in my '11 Mustang GT. Yes, I'm referring to the craptastic MT-82 transmission. Never again! Made me only consider the 6R80 auto trans in my '14 Mustang GT.

Sure, American companies can send specs to 3rd world country factories and hope nothing is lost in translation, but the workmanship and quality issues just aren't worth saving a couple bucks.

And for all intents and purposes, where exactly are MMD, Raxiom and mostly all the other products under the AM umbrella manufactured from ?

Are they made in the U.S or anywhere in North America ?

Chances are more than likely slim to none.. Case in point, when the Raxiom gen5 tail lights first became available on AM's website, I was looking into purchasing them.. I also wanted to inquire info about the company's history, their physical address and contact info.. However after my research attempts came up empty, that put any interest I had in wanting to purchase them as a red flag.. As I will not purchase a product from any vendor without having access to the manufacturers address and customer support dept and I am not referring to AM, but to the actual manufacturer !

I'd rather bend over for Lethal Performance than spend money at China Muscle. Their markup and product representation has always been laughable, yet people still fork their paychecks over to them.

The only good thing that ever came in an American Muscle delivery box was their calendar. And it still isn't worth $100.

If I'm going to put Chinese shit on my car, I'd better damn well get Chinese pricing on it.

All hating on AM aside, you have to give AM some respect for the day they had a pricing glitch on their Vortech kits, and still honored them. Obviously they canceled orders for the guys buying 20-30 kits LOL but man, that had to hurt from a business view lol.


OP, find someone who chrome dips. If nothing else, I know I shop here in Vegas you could probably just ship that thing to and have it ripped 'n dipped. If nothing else, you'd finally get what you pay for.
