Sounds like I'll be reading about some whining.

I joined the ecoboost club last fall. Got rid of the 2016 Mustang that I didn't drive much and picked up an 18 Raptor. Love the ride that's for sure.

Mines a 2013 and never had that problem, and live the most humid state in America!

Mines a 13, I get gunk out the intercooler weep hole and drain off a gallon of water/oil/gas crap mix every few thousand miles from my UPR mega catch can with CSS.

That's all from a catch can setup?

Yep, I don't have exact mileage but that picture is between 5 and 7 thousand miles worth, and missing few half water bottles that I emptied on longer trips. Yes the majority is water (bottom) but then theres chunky mid layer of white gunk thats like curdled milk and then gas/oil mix floating on top... and it stinks. This is through winter, I assume a lot is from cold start condensation.

That pic is the best sales tool for a catch can EVER!

Well it's not an ecoboost but I just picked up a 2016 F150 Lariat 5.0 in ruby red metallic. Was browsing Amazon for bed extenders/dividers and prices were all around $300 or more for molded plastic. I had one in my cart and almost clicked to buy it then came to my senses. Went to Lowe's this afternoon and picked up an 8' 2x8 and cut it to 63" and dropped it in the slots in the bedliner. Done for less than $8.

And it barely fits in my garage. I had to trim the antenna down about 5".

Looks nice, my antenna hits garage, don't even notice anymore.. I use it as warning system for low clearance situations, hahaha

Hah! Yesterday I found the Sport mode on the transmission shifter! :driver:

Also I dipped the tip of my cut antenna in some JB Weld to cover the sharp end. Then a little black paint and it looks factory. Still gets excellent reception also.

Considering dropping the back suspension a little to try and reduce the massive fender gap a little. Looks like I can move the spacer between the springs and axle to above the springs which should give me an inch drop. Not much but it might help. This truck is massive! Tailgate is almost a foot higher than my 2002.

I've been paying more attention to the F150 stuff. I am planning one more season with my 5.4 turd before looking to move forward a few years. I saw this..

"540 horsepower @ 5,800 rpm and 550 lb-ft of torque @ 3,850 rpm to the wheels" from a 2.7 Ecoboost!!!!! Holy shit! That is incredible. No good for me, but interesting just the same.

https://www.tfltruck.com/2019/03/he...a-ford-f-150-2-7l-ecoboost-v6-stage-3-tuning/

I am thinking a tuned 3.5 will be in my future.

The 2nd-gen 3.5s are a beast for sure. Heck, my first-gen '16 is rated at 365HP/420TQ if I'm not mistaken. A decent 93 tune gets that to 400HP/500TQ. There are some guys with Whippled 5.0s running some pretty impressive times.

Anyone here tuned an early one (2013) keeping it only 87 octane and still seeing good returns? I don't want to make the jump to premium, even better if it's tri-fecta of keeping 87, adding power/drivability and possibly squeaking out some more mpg

5 Star gets decent results on their 87 tunes, if I'm not mistaken. I think they have some dyno graphs over on Stage 3s site. Obviously, the price jump to running premium is pretty steep, at least around here (it's usually $0.60/gallon more than 87). On my 36 gallon tank, that's around $15-18 dollars per fill-up depending on how low I take it. Granted I only fill up once every two weeks, but that's roughly $400 a year more in fuel costs (at least right now while gas is cheap).

EDIT: From the Stage 3 site re: 5 Star tunes>
On 5-Star's dyno run with the stock tuning, their test truck managed to hit around 260 horsepower and nearly 350lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. On their run with a 93 octane performance tune, their truck put down a whopping 315 horsepower and 445lb-ft of torque to the ground. Those are rear-wheel peak power gains of over 20%, all with greatly improved transmission function.

Even 5-Star's 87 octane Performance/Tow tunes make great power, putting down peak numbers of 305 horsepower and 375lb-ft of torque

EDIT 2: So only 10HP, but 70TQ going from 87 tune to 93 tune. Hmmm.....

If I remember correctly, the one time I looked at boost on my 2015 2.7, wide open accelerating, I saw my boost dropping after 4000 rpm. Just loses torque at higher rpm so there isn't much top end power. I think peak 17 psi was around 3000 rpm?

My 3.5 def loses steam up top. Stock, I think it pushes 14-16 PSI. The tunes raise that to 18-20 from the 5 Star verbiage.
