I hope not... I have been beside many Challengers at red lights in my 09, and its just hilarious how large the Challenger looks compared to mine.

When you're in the Challengers though, you feel how "solid" they are from the moment you close the door. Makes the Mustang feel a little "tuna can" to me.

So Ford is going to make a car that the front end falls apart every 30000 miles?

They could be taking about the Mustang "inspired" SUV. It would be less crazy to say the Mustang would get even smaller and be powered by an Ecoboost/Electric hybrid power train and lose the V8. It's a one car platform and how long will Ford support that? They like to deffer those costs across models. The new Explorer is body on frame I think. Could be wrong. Probably am. But making the Mustang bigger goes against all history of the car. And would be a middle finger to the Mustang buyer. Remember the Probe/Mustang that damn near killed the pony car? It might be an Edsel level F-up.

What I do believe is that the 5.0 DOHC (or a version of it) will be the last V8 to power a car or light duty pickup from Ford. The LS will be the last gas V8 GM uses and the Hemi is the swan song from FCA.

I would guess an AWD EcoBoost hybrid with insane numbers will be the next evolution of the platform.

I hope not challengers are huge, and also a POS. Dodge needs to think about a redesign, since it never had one. I am surprised Chrysler stays in business

They just moved to #2 in sales past the Camaro with there 11 year old 2008 design. What reason do they have to change their car when it is outselling the way newer Camaro?

Well I guess if it works and sells that’s all that really matters at the end of the day, I admittedly will hate on Chrysler’s whenever I get the chance, and I really don’t know how they would redesign it unless they did like the duster back in the 80s . Which would sure enough be a terrible flop, but that SUV mustang I would be down with since I got the baby on the way and all.

Before the Challenger and Camaro were brought back from extinction, look at how many complained about the S197 Mustang as being huge and heavy when compared to the previous SN-95 and Fox-body era cars. There's still a select few even to this day who claim the S197 cars were too bulky in size and weight that was hoping the current S550 models would become lighter in overall weight. Well, we all know how well that turned out lol. But whenever you see an S197/S550 alongside a Camaro or Challenger, the 5th and current 6th generation Mustangs can be considered as dwarfs when compared to the size of the current generation Challenger and Camaro :jester:

I'm thinking we'll see a co-developed V8, Ford and GM, kind of like they did with the 10-speed auto. That might give us another decade or so of V8... Your right it is on the way out and will eventually be unsustainable.

Before I got my S197, I really really wanted a Camaro. Then I drove one. You can't see out of them. I mean it's crazy how bad the visiblity is. The Camaro loyalists love it because it's true to the old design.

I think GM would sell a lot more Camaros if you could see out of the damn things. For that reason alone the Mustang wins in my book...

Since it came out I have really liked the look of the Challenger, if they would make a 7/8 scale version of it. It's fucking huge.

IMHO Mopar got the retro look of the Challenger spot on. However, what I don't like is that it's fucking huge like a land yacht and rear visibility is horrible. Just sitting inside of the damn thing feels as though your sitting inside a bunker lol.

Despite the Camaro loyalists loving it because of how reminiscent it is to the 1st generation, 67-69 models, you're absolutely spot on about not being able to see out of them, just as you're not able to see anything out of the Challenger. Therefore how can you really enjoy what your driving, if you can't see out of it lol.

I sat in a Camaro at an auto show the first year they came back. The lack of visibility was jarring. The A-pillar seemed like a tree trunk.
