Instead of browsing the web trying to research to get a decent clutch and pressure for my 2005 Mustang GT 4.6L, 5 speed of course.
Don't think i will race it, but punish it on occasion.
Could i please ask your advice on a good performance setup.
Any and all remarks would be appreciated.
Thank you
Jerome

Even an RST is more than he needs with the stock(ish) HP of about 320.

I have the RST, and it is rated to 800HP (crank). Feel is great, but I wouldn't recommend putting up with a dual clutch's noise for 300ish HP.

After more than 20k driven, I am 100% happy with the Centerfoce Dual Friction clutch. Pedal feel is stock. Dorman slave/TOB also fine.

I have the McLeod RXT with billet steel flywheel. Yes it's overkill but who cares? I'm not complaining. :D

Seems like this thread describes what I might need in the way of a clutch. Stockish power (FRPP cold air & tune and an X-pipe only) with no plans to increase it. Street driving and HPDE road course running, no drag racing.

I'm definitely interested in the Dual Friction myself, looking ahead to a possible Magnum XL swap. Pretty sure I need at least different a different spline count on the disc just to make the swap happen at all.

I'll be running 3.73's and almost certainly a 2.66 low version of the Tremec, making 1st gear a bit taller overall than I suspect is commonly used by most people here. So I think to cover the dual-duty requirement I want to either retain the OE flywheel or go with something that's at least close to OE flywheel weight.

I've used a McLeod before on another car, but I think there's something about their 4.6L offerings to that requires you to use their flywheel as well.

FWIW, I had a CF/DF setup in a '79 Malibu - a 10.4" unit behind an EFI'd 350 that was entirely sufficient up to and including occasional trailer towing. Tremec transmission there as well, so 26 splines up from 10.

I don’t recommend Exedy as I and a few other members have had issues with shifting and we all have Exedy clutches.

The dual friction 26 spline Centerforce is the direct OEM fittment to use with the tremec magnum. I am running the ford racing billet flywheel, the 20lb one. The stock 8 bolt flywheel is 28 lbs I believe.

I have the Exedy mach 500 and only time I have shift issues is when I fail to push clutch all the way down at the right time when speed shifting (just referring to me, no hidden meaning). I also have BMR motor mounts which removed 85% of all drive train slop believe it or not which helped with miss shifts also.. Shifts got better with that immediately. I am also using the lightened Excedy flywheel. (https://www.americanmuscle.com/exedy-race-flywheel-9604-6bolt.html#open_box) Rev matching is much more fun with that in conjunction with my lito tune for other mods.

I have a mach 350 and have had many issues. Like I said I’m not the only one with issues. I also have poly motor mounts and a steeda tri ax shifter. All the shifters I’ve ran didn’t cure the issue so I know its not the motor mounts or shifter.

I understand, maybe its just the mach 350 and 400 that have issues.

Thanks.

I'll have to double-check whether my 4.6L uses the 6 bolt or the 8 bolt flywheel. I think I'd be OK at 25 lbs and that gearing, but I think 20 lbs would probably be a little too light for daily driving around town with 3.73 in the axle and a 2.66 1st for gearing.
