it has never been an issue for me. In fact, I wouldn't want it on my convertible. If i run in with the top down, i can still keep valuables locked up safe in the trunk. If i had a button, they might reach inside and release the trunk and get contents inside the trunk. If i had an inside trunk release, i would disable it

When your top is down lock your doors, if anyone unlocks them to get in and do/take any thing it will set your alarm off. You can’t get to anything in the car without unlocking the doors so your pretty safe

Setting off the alarm doesn't always mean that your car is safe. If the vehicle is parked in a particular area where there aren't many people around? Somebody could very well be bold or desperate enough to break in and attempt to search for anything that may be valuable, despite the risk being taken. Anyhow, just saying

I can't tell you how many times I've heard a car alarm go off only to think to myself: "sounds like someone hit the wrong button on their car remote again". I rarely, if ever, hear one and actually think someone is stealing a car.

I bought one from aftermarket suppliers. Works well and is handy when you don't have key with you!

Same here, as I can't even tell you how many times we hear car alarms going off every day and yet we live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh that has a very low crime rate. Like yourself, the first thing that comes to mind is either someone hit the wrong button on their car remote again or they accidentally set it off, not realizing they forgot to disable it first before entering the vehicle. It happens quite often around here and therefore it's very rare that I ever suspect that someone is attempting to either steal or break into somebody's car whenever I hear a car alarm going off lol.

I don’t like carrying a fob. I wired in a sn95 trunk button.

Dude contributes a tech article and y’all trash useless asses talk shit. Get real.

Leave the fob in the car. Then you have a trunk button.

Keep the main key fob in a safe place and the other as a spare inside the car's glove box to use as a trunk release.

I'm so sick of car alarms, when I hear them going off I hope and pray that someone is actually stealing the fucking car so it goes away.

If only it were that simple lol. Unfortunately they never go away. It seems like as soon as the first one finally stops, there's another one going off to take it's place and start up the cycle all over again.

I love car alarms during thunderstorms and near runways. Watched a low pass flyby from a couple F-18’s and the car alarms going off after they had passed were hilarious.

For situations when the keys isn't in your car and you don't want to have to go get them. Or the batteries are dead.
Or...
Just because. It's not your thing. Cool. Move along. Don't need to be dicks about it.
I almost locked my keys\fob in the trunk by accident when I was installing my rear window louver & I wasn't at home when this almost happened (was at my BIL's house) so I ordered a SHR setup that same day. I had planned for 1 ahead of time (had ran the trunk release switch wiring to my headlight switch while I was installing my TurboKill security system.....had the SJB kick panel removed so all wires were exposed).

It's mounted in my headlight switch in same area as shown in the video. I also had a plain spare key cut to keep in my wallet as backup when I had my Strattec #5921186 Mustang IKT Unikey cut to get rid of the separate key fob.
