It's been raining here most of the day, I noticed my wipers started acting erratically. They'll go up about 1/4 of the way, pause for a moment, then continue up, pausing once or twice more, very briefly. They seem to function fine on full wiper, non intermittent.

My aftermarket head unit turns the maps light or dark depending on if headlights are on or not. Today it was switching night/day setting seemingly in sync with the wipers on intermittent on my way back to the office.

Where to start?

I would pull the HU and see if the wipers are fixed.
Thats where I would start.
Never hurts to check the SJB for water intrusion, check cowl drain on right side.

I kinda suspect since it's been raining all day it probably has to do with water in your SJB. Seems like many of our erratic and random body electrical issues stem from that.

drain was cleared a few months ago. I had the passenger side cover off again when I installed my amp a few weeks ago and it was still clean in there.

carpet is not wet, and I have weathertech floor mats so I would either see standing water on mat, or soaked carpet. There is neither.

Well it doesn't necessarily have to be due to the current situation. If you have had water leak in there in the past it takes a bit of time for the contacts and such to corrode. I wouldn't rule it out until it is pulled and physically examined.

all of the pins on the SJB looked fine, no corrosion or anything.

It also rained most of the day Friday and the wipers never did anything strange. Thursday has been the only time so far that they have acted like that.

Can't always go by the pins. SJB is not repairable as they are partially sealed. They break down internally.

are SJB's unique to the car/options? Or could I get a SJB from, say a v6/auto car? Mines a v8/manual, just figured that's as different as they get.

There are some differences between SJBs, however, not sure if it is hardware difference or only firmware.
I added fog lamps to mine, added factory headlamp switch w/fog. Enabled fogs in SJB. Self test flashed fogs, but switch didn't turn them on.
05-06 does not have TPMS. May just be disabled, not sure.
06-09 does not support "global window" option, so I read. (open windows w/fob)
You will need Forscan or a trip to dealer to setup options no matter what you get, new or used.

ok, that's good to know, thank you. I do have forscan and can hook my laptop up to the car. If I DO have to go down this road, hopefully I can get it setup just using forscan.

Its not hard to configure.
All changes are on line one of the sjb configuration (as built). There is no VIN in sjb. The only other thing would be pairing the tpms sensors or just disable tpms.

This turned out to be a bad wiper motor. After doing some research, the SJB has nothing to do with the wipers, all it does is receive a signal that they're on, presumably for the headlights, etc.

All wiper functions are controlled by the multifunction switch and go through the wiper motor.
