Hey guys, so I once again have a question for everyone about the alignment of panels on these cars. I was doing some work on my 2012 and I noticed that my left side fender is popping out slightly where it meets the door. So when you are looking at it from the side or behind, you can see it's not flush with the door. It looks like this:

Its not even that the whole panel is sticking out, its just that the middle portion (looking vertically) that seems bowed out slightly. Is this normal? Does anyone else have this? There are three other Mustangs that park in the same place that I do at night and none of them look like this. I even took it to a local body shop and they told me that there's nothing I can do about it. I think they are being lazy, but hey who knows. If this is typical of these cars then I will let it go, but if I'm the only one like this then its going to bother me.

Thanks

Haha Captainstr8edge, I'm getting to that point. It's driving me nuts! But if it's something that others have too, then I guess I'll just chalk it up to being normal. But if not alot of others have it, it will make me even more nuts. I may seriously buy a new fender, have it painted and striped, and put on (hopefully that would fix it). It bothers me that much.

Exactly. WTF. I need more people to chime in that have this so I can feel better and just accept it.

Might not be the fender OR the door. Could be the frame! Hit any bad potholes lately??

Haha I know. I realize that I notice these little things far too much, but it still bugs me dammit.

Its normal. The bumper cover on my car wasnt quite flush where it met up with the rear driver side quarter panel. Body shop fixed it when they put the new bumper cover on after I got hit.

At a body shop they can use whats call a spoon. It is a thin piece of metal tool that fits between the front fender and door gap. Then depending which way pulled moves the fender in or out. This is done when putting on when new fenders are doors to get the two to alighn perfect,Since your is already finished you have to be careful doing the not to chip or put dent in fender. That probly why shop did not want to try.You could use a plastic trim tool the same way and be alittle safer but there is a chance of rolling fender edge or dent then its mud and paint time. But if your set on new fender worth a try.
