By towing the car am hour in 'the wrong direction' (back to his shop) he gets paid for the hour drive. If he only took it to the dealership then he gets paid for the 15 minute tow but has an hour commute in each direction unpaid. The tow truck driver was looking out for his own wallet and figured insurance would pay the bill so it didn't matter.

Surprisingly the insurance company said it was somewhat standard practice for them to take it somewhere and store it since it was so close to the end of the day. I guess if they're not concerned he's screwing them over then why should I be but I'm still livid aobut it being towed an hour improperly and then having to be towed back today. Guy was a moron for sure. I've haven't dealt much with towing cars and hadn't read the manual on towing before it was pointed out on here that it was done improperly. Kind of one of those things "if I knew then what I know now" right?

I also didn't see which direction he was towing it because you have to travel a few miles to turn left or right to go to one of the cities. I left in the retal car right before he did after ensuring he knew where it was going but I guess he ignored that. I also tried calling the cell phone that he called me on multiple times which he politely ignored. I'd live to have about 10 minutes alone in a cage with that f*c*er!

My car was impounded last January and the cop called a regular tow to come pick it up. I told him,"absolutely not". He tried to argue with me about it and I said now way was my car going on that and to get me a flatbed. At least my baby got a safe trip while I sat in the slammer for 2 days.

^^ That's standing your ground there brother. Had I actually known I would have told the guy exactly where to go, now I do, let's hope it's not broken moreso.

Oh, get this shit, car was delivered to the dealership today. You seen the picture directly after the accident, now check out the picture after it arrived at the dealership post tow. How the *(&*? I don't understand this one.

I had a nice long chat with the dealership adjustor and explained the whole situation to him. He's a big mustang fan and was as pissed as I was at how all this went down. One more pic to piss you off real good.

I feel your pain. Some stupid bitch w/no license or insurance hit my 14 w/only 500 miles on it and I hadn't made the first payment. Then she ran. Had to deal w/police reports and detectives for 2 months before my insurance company would cover it. Then it took another 11 months to get her ass into court.

I'm not sure how good "demanding" would do. The adjustor did say that the suspension on that side was hosed but unless it done more than 25% of the value of the car in damage or there was something crazy that it shouldn't effect the value of the car. I'm fairly pissed at the moment and I sent another email to USAA tonight about the towing company with pictures attached and how everything went down but I'm not quite sure if I have ground to demand a brand new vehicle. The adjustor will give me an estimate tomorrow and he's also going to have ford check the transmission, I'm also going to stop by ford tomorrow to ask the service department what the likelihood of the transmission being screwed are.

Mud..... and it didn't happen from the accident as you can see in the first picture. My guess is the tow truck slung it (and likely rocks and shit) all over the front on the hour + long trip towing it improperly.

Just give me 1 round in a MMA cage with that fucker, I'll make Anderson Silva look kinda hahahaha. Seriously though, I was pissed even before I knew it was towed improperly at how the guy was trying to jam a jack under it and he just seemed like a general idiot. It is well documented now though and I will not take it back unless it's 100% like new.

You're a better man than me, I would have been in jail already for assault on a tow truck driver and damage to property.

And this is why I'll never let anything but a flatbed tow any vehicle of mine.

My '06 Explorer got tagged, with similar body damage (no mechanical/suspension damage) when it was three weeks old. Guy at the curb figured he flip a U, across four lanes of traffic, without looking.

Eight years later, if I didn't tell you what panels had been repainted, you'd never know. I know, because I can see where they swirl much worse than the factory painted ones, but it's dark metallic blue, not white.

The biggest bitch is, it will likely affect value down the road, because of Carfax.

He likely got wind that you called his negligent ass out for improper towing. He probably drug the shit out of your car to the dealership making sure to hit every pot-hole and bump he could find.

Tow-truck people are the "white collar" of the salvage industry... white trash that is...

I will be calling my insurance company first thing in the morning since I went through them to get the tow truck dispatched. I'm quite sure that they will be interested to hear that the tow truck driver hauled the car improperly an hour in the wrong direction to store it in a lot over the weekend and had me sign a blank form assuring me that he had the information and was about to fill it in. Guess I learned a valuable lesson but had already been there a few hours and enterprise rent-a-car was there with a vehicle to haul me back. I guess I could talk to our legal guys as well to get advice if USAA doesn't take charge. I'm so irritated at the whole situation.

I would be shocked if USAA didn't take charge of this shit for you with pride. When I wedged my rear wheel under a guard rail two years ago, the city tried to get USAA to pay for the replacement of two bent guard rails. I sent photos I took immediately after the accident showing the guard rail undamaged and USAA said "Thanks! That's all I needed," and I never heard another word about it. My best guess is that the city ended up pushing it to the tow company or that another accident there caused the bent rail. Regardless, my point is that USAA was aggressive in getting everything taken care of.
