Heacock is who you want to check out. Just don't tell them you have nitrous. Everything else is fair game.

Great question!

I was thinking about the same thing as I'm tallying up all the mod costs.

I was looking at them before but their insurance requirements are difficult. You would have to have another vehicle also registered and insured year round as your daily driver. You have to stay under a mileage limit that they set. You have to have your car stored in a 100% enclosed enclosure at all times not driving it. The list goes on.

I don't think you will find any insurance company that will insure for over book value that doesn't have restrictions like that.

Not totally correct. Some insurance companies such as Progressive let you insure modifications by a dollar value of the Mods. I have my 05 insured for 5k in mods above the car value.

I know, I know, don't hate on me for having Progressive, but they are the cheapest/best I've found in this area. And they have been good to me.

Also, there are a few collector car companies that insure by an agreed upon value such as, Heakock, Haggerty, American Col. Car, etc. American seems to be the cheapest from my research, but I haven't found much on reviews.

I was under the assumption that the OP wanted to insure for big money. Otherwise why go with specialty insurance at all?

For example, my 07 was insured for $75K. Progressive won't do that.

Yes I have a forged motor, supercharged, with a full tubeler BMR suspension, tons of audio and appearance mods along with a lot of carbon fiber and rims. I have invested to much to worry about an uninsured driver hitting me.

Keep a copy of any application you fill out. They can throw it right back at you in a denial letter.

I think your only chance is Heacock. I looked forever before I landed on them. Good pricing too. $75K in coverage for $1600/yr.

The only problem with them is I have a carport not a garage so that automatically disqualifies me.

Grundy's for me is the way to go.Two restrictions are car is not a daily driver and it must be garaged. You can insure it for any agreed amount, cost is based on the insured amount. Also they guarantee to use only OEM replacement parts for repairs
They don't care how modified your car is along as it is registered and street legal. Also no mileage restrictions. If you want to do across country power tour that's OK. I have had my highly modified 05GT insured with them for at least 8 years.
Easy part is go online to Grundy's and plug your car in and amount to insured and you get a quick quote for cost.

We have about 4 cars with Hagerty now. Same restrictions apply; must be garaged, no nitrous, no exotic, and you must have 1 daily driver per covered vehicle. That said, they are very cheap, and you tell them the value.

I just filled out an online form for Hagerty for $25k declared value, annual cost is only $755. Thats cheaper than what Im paying now with USAA. This is a no brainer.
