I don't think I've ever had an easy dealing when selling my cars, but I just shrug it off.

But nothing tops dealing with the diesel truck buyer... especially if you have something unique.

When I was trying to sell one of my trucks - my '96 F250 7.3L ... I had done a TON of work to the truck and despite it having 400K miles on it, the truck didn't look the part and drove perfect. One customer wrote us a terrible review about how awful we were for not taking his offer of 50% of my asking price.

Also when I sold my '01 Excursion 7.3L ... that was a lot of fun. Some guy told me that I should just drive it off a cliff with me in it at my price. LOL. Sold it the next day to a guy who drove from FL to pick it up.
Hey Cam,

Since this is my Thread we can discuss anything on it that we wish.

I'm glad your jumping on here and telling/sharing some of your personal experiences on selling your vehicles.

Nothing really surprises me dealing with the Public.
I worked in sales for over 30 years and that was dealing with the public.
So, like I said above nothing surprises me at all with the public.

I have given even more thought to my situation recently.
I am going to take the Bullitt to Gateway and have that discussion with them seeing the car in person.
And I have no doubt when Tim is finished with it, it will be up to Show-Car standards.
If Gateway and I get our heads together and all goes smooth then I'll leave it with them.
However if I sense any Bull-Shit I'll simply bring it back home and forget this brilliant idea of selling it.

Also, the other thing I have been tossing around for sometime in my head is, Dropping the Power Level.
And that would be a very easy thing to have done.
If things just simply don't work-out with selling it I'm going to contact Brent at Brenspeed and discuss him personally doing a New Tune and Dropping the H/P way back.
My thinking is if I do that it will greatly reduce the stress on all moving mechanical components.
And in doing so will have it back to actually where it will be much easier to drive on the street once again.
The plus side is all that would have to be changed back to it's current power-level would be a Pulley change on the Roush S/C.
And of course simply Re-Loading the Tune that will remain in the SCT Tuner for that Power-Level.

I don't think I'm at the point to almost IMO give the Bullitt Mustang away just to get rid of it and then have to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of plus $75K for it's replacement.

I appreciate your candid comments on here buddy.
If you have anything else to add please feel free to do so.

Terry

Terry, the Gateway showroom for Nashville is over near my neck of the woods. If it ends up there let me know. They do a smaller cars and coffee and open their showroom to the public on Saturdays. It's a very nice facility.

Hey Matt,

I promise to keep that thought in mind for sure. LOL !!!

Ryan,

I'll post here if it ends up actually staying at Gateway once I show it to them in person.

If they don't come across as Super impressed it's not staying.

Your right it's a nice facility Cathy (Wife) and I went to it in person one Saturday.

Terry, are you going to remove the nitrous setup ?
Jim,

No-Sir nothing is going to be (Changed or Removed) it will be sold exactly as is.

I don't want to hear any negative Feed-Back once it is sold if in fact that takes place.

The new owner will also get anything that I have that came off the Bullitt and any extra items I have for it.
Plus all Magazine articles, publications, Ford Brochures etc.

I can honestly say the Bullitt is as perfect as it possibly can be.

The new owner will be smiling for sure when they see it in person and definitely will when they sit in the driver's seat and fire-it-Up and drive off.
Hopefully, and I'm being serious saying the following, they don't jump on it with WOT and instantly total the damn thing !!!

If the Mopar product is 1' longer and 2" wider, in the bigger scheme of things, that's not much more work to keep it clean.

When I bought my red 2011 fusion, new, back in Jan 2011, I had it over coated and also undercoated. 6 1/2 years later, it still looks like a show room finish. That overcoating is like a permanent wax. All I do is wash it, then rinse, that's it.

The black 2010 mustang is a different matter. It's either a labour of love.... or a love of labour ! I bought one of these..'air force blasters'... made in NY..at the local harly davidson dealer. Built like a tank, long, heavy duty hose, and puts out a lot of high pressure air...and air is warm. They came in 3 sizes, and I have the middle version. Filter on the input side. It was made to blast water out of all the crevices on vehicles that you just can't get to, like the 7 bar grille, any surround, rims, bumpers, rear spoiler etc, etc. You can blow all the water off in just a few mins. But then it's the turtle wax made for black cars, then all the buffing by hand. A buddy has a spare new random orbital car polisher that I will try. It may well make short work of it.

BTW, I had several of those TCI ratchet shifters in my 2010... caused a lot of grief. I'd start up the car, then couldn't shift out of park.... had to use the manual over ride method, on the side of the tci shifter. After 2 x shifters and 2 x sjb's, myself and the head local ford techno wizard finally figured it out. The TCI shifter at times... outputs a spike /surge /transient that in turn locks up the sjb board. The sjb then requires a master re-set to clear it. Then repeat the entire process every 2-3 weeks. Too bad, I liked it, but it was impractical, and TCI didn't have a fix..so installed the oem shifter.

Jim,

You have some excellent ideas for sure on keeping up the looks on the new replacement if that indeed does eventually takes place.
Especially those new or now not so new coatings for the outside finish.
That I am very much going to highly consider having done as soon as I get a new car whatever the brand is.

Speaking of the TCI Shifter.
I really like it as it looks like it came in the Mustang from Ford.
Plus back when my original build was done and a few years after that I was racing and Brenspeed was racing my Bullitt.
You had to have a shifter like the TCI to be legal for NMRA or NHRA Drag-Racing.
Thank goodness mine has worked and still is working flawless and that has now been for lots of years.

Speaking of Solid Black Cars ..........
I have had them in the past but never again buddy the up keep on them looks wise to me is a Major-Pain !!!
Just way-way to doggone time consuming especially when one gets older.
They look awesome when done but the time involved in keeping them that way is a nightmare IMHO.

Terry,

Sad to see that you're moving on from the Bullitt. But as an FCA employee I've gotta recommend you get the hellcat, or even better splurge for the Demon or Trackhawk. I've worked with these cars pretty extensively over the last year and they are truly phenomenal. If you have questions let me know.

I'm thinking you more than likely are over on the below Hellcat internet site.
If so, so am I.

What's the asking price?
Jim,

If you would like to make an official offer I'll take a serious look at it.
If you prefer to do it in Private send me a PM or E-Mail.
No pricing has been set yet.
It's at a buddies house until next week getting a complete Show-Room detail.

It's not for sale. He is only "thinking" about it ;)

That's correct as it's not gotten off the ground floor yet.

Hey guys,

I just now had this sent to me from another Car-Geek on another internet site.

This does for sure get one's immediate attention that's for sure.

Well I have NOT yet thrown out the Audi TT RS but seriously watching this latest video of the "Widebody" Challenger Hellcat has me thinking.

That's funny the video was cut to 7:07.

I think with the Hellcat, that is right way to go. The biggest issue I had with the normal market Challenger was the weird wheel well creases.

I do have to admit though, it's a big pet peeve of mine to say "Widebody" when it is in-fact just stuck on flares. That is a fundamental difference imo

That is YOU Terry!!

Earl,

I have now made the changes I think necessary in my garage this morning.See post below ..........

Unless something drastic changes on this end I'm 99.9% sure it's going to be the Hellcat.
Assuming the Bullitt does get sold that is.

Cam,

We both know that "Widebody" is simply a marketing term to get the publics attention.

I do really like the way this optional body looks versus the standard Hellcat body though.

Hey buddy it's all good.
