Why are used parts so expensive?

So I'm trying to track down some odds and ends for my '08 C/S and it's proving tough to find any of them and when I do people want exorbitant amounts of money for them.. I listed below what I'm looking for, maybe you lovely folks can help me find some cheap used stuff? I'm building on a budget and actually bartered for almost all my mods to this point, I'd like to keep it that way!

- 2010-2014 Door Mirrors
- 2005-2009 Spoiler (Anything non-pedestal)
- 2005-2009 Dash Panels (I want the base model satin black cluster/airbag section that matches the top dash.)

I was gonna post this in the WTB section but I don't have the permissions to do so..

2010+ mirrors are "desirable" for early S197 people, so dismantlers charge a lot. Same with the spoiler, every 05-09 GT has a pedestal, so any dove-tail style will be desirable. I agree with you some of these prices are nuts, but keep in mind despite the physical similarities to older S197 parts, theres a much higher demand for 2010+ mirrors and dove tail spoilers.

On the other hand, if you were tracking down odds and ends to rebuild a GT for example, and wanted 05-09 mirrors and spoiler, you get get em all for next to nothing. Again, desire/demand.

As for your dash panels, that one might be Ford's fault, there were too many versions and patterns that Ford discontinued most of the styles, including my Carbon charcoal and the Bullitt diamond plate. What style interior dash panel do you have, flat smooth black?

I figured the dabs would be a little higher on the '10+ stuff but people want stupid money for even the V6 plain black plastic ones.. my current dash is what I guess was called the IUP dash? Kinda textured, looks vaguely like carbon if you squint.. I want the satin black so it will match the top and center sections.

Keep your eyes peeled on eBay. I bought my 10-14 mirrors with the blind spot corners for $90/pair.

I forgot what it looked like with truck mirrors. Lol

I ran into the same thing with door panels. For some reason black door panels, which I thought would be extremely common, are very difficult to find. I found a set on ebay last year that a guy wanted $550 for, F that. Even ones with peeling inserts people were asking $200 each. That's how I ended up doing the '10+ door panels.

I'm having a hard time finding a 11-13 stock airbox lower at a reasonable price. New Ford wants $500! WTF.

Tube and upper covers (MAF housing), cheap and many. Lowers pop up on ebay one at a time and get snatched up quick. I thought everyone changes to a CAI and throws the stock sh!t in the parts bin. I just don't want any hassles when it comes to Inspection.

The 07-09 V6 spoiler is non-pedestal. Ugly as shit tho. I would just delete the spoiler. The early S197 cars look so much better without one, just like the SN95 cars do as well.

When it comes back from the shop I actually planned on trying that look!

I actually like the look of 05-09 mirrors when they are painted or accented to match body color. Don't care for the weird boob lol protruding shape of the 2010.

Information has become so accessible that the auto recycle industry knows what the part sells/sold for new and what they sell for currently on Ebay and other sites that it's hard to get great deals like you used to. Even pawn shops got smarter.
