I just rearranged the garage so the "Widebody" Challenger Hellcat will fit ...

Guys,

Well if I did things right in the reorganization of my garage I now have the necessary room for the new machine.
I have been thinking about this for months now to be honest.
I even thought about getting one of those outside higher-end preconstructed buildings.
(I really don't want to do that)

So, last night I just forced myself to think-think-think of how things could be (Rearranged) in the garage.
And I'll have to say it simply came to me and I could actually picture in my mind what to move and open up the left-side of the garage.
Much-much easier than I was thinking to be honest and very straight forward.
No help needed other than a pair of heavy-duty leather work gloves to protect the fingers and hands.

Well I did take pictures as many of us have discussed the "Widebody" Hellcat many times and all of us agreed it would be an Awesome Machine if I could get it to fit.
I actually think it will go in now with little aggravation after these changes I just made this morning.
So, guys, I asked Cathy what she thought last night after both of us watched the latest video ???
She said she liked it and I should get what I liked and in her opinion get it in the RED !!!

Thanks for looking and your comments guys,
Terry

RUMBLE: 2018 Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody VS. 2018 Corvette Grand Touring (Plus video)

Josh Max , Contributor
Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own.

Guys, I have tried all 3 internet browsers to load the video.
None seem to work on here for some unknown reason.
Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer & Google Chrome.
What I just found out about the videos is you can see them according to what Browser you use.
I have deleted two of the three I had posted previously.
I see this video using (Mozilla Firefox).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdZoWQNl1NY

We drove 'em both for about 20 minutes each, and we weren't nice to either car.

“Which one did you like best?” you ask. Hard to say. We

could be a greedy sum***** and say “Both. Please have
them delivered to this address.”

But a winner must be declared, and it was the Challenger.

Josh

Not a fair fight, but can you blame us?

Josh
Max
2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody

It was louder. It's better looking. It has an actual back seat

that fits actual people.

At $76,180 loaded, it's $23,500 less than the $99,230 (as
tested) Corvette.

Unless your garage is swimming in Aston-Martins, Porsches
and and R8s, $23,500 isn't nickels and dimes.

Mostly, the Challenger's roar was what sold us – the sizzle.

We like loud, muscle-y things, too, like the Hellcat's 707
horsepower, as opposed to the Vette's 460.

Let's give the Vette some love, though; sales are down in the

last three years.

Here's what's up:

Josh

For 2018, the Corvette features ceramic brakes as a

standalone option instead of having to get them through a
package.

That's where the Vette bests the Challenger – cornering,

which is as much a vital component of a speedy ride as
“going fast in a straight line.”

Josh
Max
21018 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe

Part of the Corvette's cornering ability is due to its relatively

svelte 3,487 pounds as compared to the Challenger's 4,490.
The Corvette also has an available Performance Data
Recorder/Cosworth toolbox offering four additional data
channels. JetBlack suede-wrapped interior includes carbon
rim steering wheel and gloss carbon fiber interior trim.

There's a whole lot more; have a look here.

The Challenger Hellcat SRT Widebody needs no introduction;

it's gotten deserved buzz galore and has put away all other
muscle cars saleswise, whether tried-and-true or reissues.
Fiat-Chrysler doesn't make exact sales figures available but
during the final quarter of 2016, sales were reportedly in the
“ding ding ding” category, according to a source.

The Widebody is, as its name suggests, 3.5 inches wider
than the standard Hellcat, particularly evident around its
fenders, the better to accommodate its 20x11 inch “Devil's
Rim” wheels. It shares many of the engine components of
the standard Hellcat, too, that being a 6.2-Liter V8 with 2.4-
liter-per-rev supercharger producing that intoxicating 707
horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard
with a six-speed manual transmission with an optional eight-
speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle
shifters. It shares its front splitter with the Demon, but
retains the Hellcat's rear spoiler. The Widebody also features
an electronic power steering system with selectable drive
modes.

Max

We don't wish to annoy loyal Vette enthusiasts – it's been

rolling since 1953 (we drove a '53 Corvette Roadster a few
years back) and we hope it continues to roll.

But mano a mano, the Hellcat SRT Widebody wins this rodeo.

4490 lbs.... with no driver or passenger(S) is nuts.... but at least it has room in it. A vette is a sports car... 2 seats + no trunk = semi useless.

Jim,

I think we both know that with any review there is going to be disagreement with it's content.
And in some cases where there exist Brand-Loyal-Owners that can be and usually is much more intense.

I have owned a lot of Vettes over the years and as you said they are a true Sports car with two (2) seats and not much storage available for anything else.

The Hellcat "Widebody" or standard model is a large car period.
But for it's size and this new "Widebody" option it handles pretty darn well per all the testers.

What I like about the Hellcat is it, is the only car produced that actually to me looks like an American Muscle-Car from back in the day.

And definitely has the performance to back up it's looks.
The new Widebody off the Showroom floor with street tires goes 10.9 in the 1/4.
Not to Shabby for a car it's size and weight.

Dodge says the Widebody is good for 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and a 10.9-second quarter-mile,
improvements of 0.1 and 0.3 seconds over the standard Hellcat.
The Widebody is also the first Challenger Hellcat to get electric power steering, with Street, Sport and Track modes.

That's ^^^ not to bad for a car that weighs approximately 4400 Lbs.

I'm not one of the Brand-Loyal-People so in my case I don't defend any specific brand they all have there good points and negative points IMO.

With all this said I still find that article interesting between a true American Icon (Sports Car) and an American Large Coupe.

Just fun stuff to see and read ..............

Well apparently the mopar product will brake from 60 mph down to zero... in LESS than 100' ! For the amount of weight it has..and a full tank of gas + driver... that's very impressive. It's also a shorter stopping distance than a...lighter stang.

I can tell ya first hand not to listen to the silliness on the internet of how Challengers are big fat pigs that can't handle or stop. My SRT in track mode with it's electrically adapted Bilstein suspension would absolutely embarrass my Mustang on a road course. If you haven't driven an SRT or a Hellcat you should. You'd be blown away. I'm not a big guy, but I've always liked a bigger car. It definitely doesn't wallow in the turns.

Jim,

I have seen the above about those guys.
What comes to my mind is ... Sad !!!
Also speaking of what I read those guys more than likely were not simply doing a 100 MPH at the end of a 1 1/2 mile runway.
I imagine they were way-way Faster than that and by the time either saw the end of the runway it was simply to late to react.

I am not in the financial position to buy a Demon buddy.
That is way-way past this fellows budget right now.

Jim,

Being serious you should, if truly interested, watch some of the videos on the new widebody hellcat and how it actually performs.
I'm not referring to only in a straight-line my man.
It does okay for sure and for any just normal person it will far exceed that person's driving ability.

Is it (Challenger) a big car, certainly, but as I said it still does a very good job in the handling department.

This. I would keep it. It's one off, every mod under the sun, too much time + effort gone into it. Just enjoy it. It's even got a roll cage. You can't run the demon at any strip..since it's quicker than 11.5 How quick is the challenger ?

I suspect, with a 8300' runway, ( 1.57 miles)..that they easily wound it up to 200 mph, then ran outa braking distance. At the end of 1/2 mile they woulda been going stupid fast. Even faster at the end of 3/4 mile. If they had it mashed for the 1st mile, then expected to brake from 200+ mph down to zero in the last .57 miles..they would only have 3020' to slow it down. Assuming street type brake pads used, they would overheat at that speed. sad. They perhaps shoulda done it in incremental stages..and also had the runway strip clearly temp marked, at the 1/2 , 3/4, 1 mile remaining points. They got in way over their heads.

On the texas mile, anything > 190 mph requires a chute.

Maybe they planned it out. Which way would you rather go out? jumping a ravine at least 100mph or in a diaper getting spoon feed applesauce?

I don't know yet what's going to take place.

I'll bring you guys up to speed on what has taken place so far with Gateway Classic Cars and me.
I got a call from Gateway yesterday and a very long detailed discussion on what exactly would take place with mine.
I will say I am impressed with that conversation as it took place with a guy that's been in the business for many-many years.
No smoke blown-up my butt in anyway.
As things stand they will actually come to my house this coming week to check it out in person.
Once that takes place they will investigate the market and discuss what is a real world number to put on the Bullitt.
In my case since I really don't know what the market is I'm leaving it up to Gateway.
My decision will be if that number they come back with I can live with.
The way I feel about this is simple, if I can live with the number then why not give Gateway a try.

I did do the Build yesterday as Dodge just opened the On-Line Build for the 2018 "Widebody" Hellcat.

Click on link below,

See above to what's going on with mine right now. ^^^

In my case I'm not interested in the Demon for myself.
It simply does not have what I want for a long term Muscle-Street-Car.

The 2018 "Widebody" Challenger Hellcat with the optional Summer Tires per Dodge has gone in the 10.90's ..........
It's a really FAST car Stock with a Full-Factory-Warranty and that's what I want this next time around.

Just to me a really Sad situation.

You might be right that maybe those two did what took place intentionally.
The only way anyone would possibly know is a Family member or Super-Close-Friend.
It might have been an insurance thing that both knew would pay-off if they died in an Accident.

Maybe they planned it out. Which way would you rather go out?
jumping a ravine at least 100 mph or in a diaper getting spoon feed applesauce?

And speaking for myself in response to your comment above. ^^^
Exactly or something similar to what took place with those guys.

Oh and by the way, for life insurance purposes....the "wait period" is two years for death by suicide. After two years you can off yourself and they are required to pay......they could have been in the two year period, so they left some skidd marks to show "oh noooo, we didn't mean to do that"

Who knows.

To brighten this dark turn of commentary.....if you buy insurance with plans to kill yourself......guess what? in two years, things are almost always better. Better so much that you no longer want to kill yourself. That is why they put that clause in the contract. Something to think about. Time heals all.

You set the price with Gateway as defined by your "in pocket" amount. Anything above that is their profit. They usually will add 10k to your price to start. I have sold two cars with them. Make up your mind on what the price is and you can live with. That's why I don't understand why you don't post a price. You have a number. Everyone does.

Regardless of what Gateways research shows it is unlikely to be reflective of your car.

Jim,

I'm going to wait until I hear from them once they all get together and decide in their opinions what the Bullitt can sale for.
I actually don't have a real number in mind that's why I'm going to Gateway to see what the guys that do this everyday think.
Obviously if I totally think their number that they tell me simply to me is crazy I'll just pass.
As I had the discussion the other day with them I'm not going to debate or argue so like I said and believe me I can be blunt if it's called for.
You guys come look and see exactly what this car really is.
Then you do your thing and after that you will call me and tell me what you have decided.
My decision at that point is, your number makes sense, or I think you guys are full of shit and I'll simply pass.
So, it's up to you guys to make the decision on what it can actually sale for.
Hopefully we can get together and the Bullitt will end up on your showroom on consignment.
If not no hard feelings at all from my end if in fact I decide to simply pass.
I will tell you that I want it sold so I'm not coming to you to waste your time as well as mine.
If you guys are not impressed with the car once you see it in real life then obviously the odds of it getting sold by you IMO is Slim to None.
I'm looking forward to you guys driving over and checking it out in person this coming week.
And yes guys I do keep some Cold Beer if you guys wish to hang-out and drink a few with me.

Jim, the above pretty much covers where I'm at as well as Gateway right now.
Hopefully all will go well and they will in fact have it on consignment.

Terry
