I recently moved from Northern Maryland to Northern Alabama (Huntsville) and plan to participate in HPDE and TT events at Barber Motorsports Park, Road Atlanta and the NCM Motorsports Park with NASA Southeast, Chin Motorsports, Hook on Driving (BMW Alabama), PCA Alabama, Tracks Unlimited, and Just Track It. Are there other clubs I should consider?

Would be great to meet up with forum members that participate in HPDE at these road courses with these and other Clubs. I've done several events at VIR, Summit Point, Watkins Glen, NJ Motorsports Park and Pitt Race while living in the Mid Atlantic region. We visited Barber today - awesome venue! I've heard great things about Road Atlanta and NCM!

I'm not in that area (I'm in MN) but I know a guy who may be able to help you out. Check out the HPDE Junkie website, my friend Dave Peters run's many of the tracks in the southeast area. He has listings for just about every track in the country and track days they run. He also has facebook and twitter pages feel free to give him a shout, great guy. He also sells some track day related stuff and some links to other vendors. Tell him Jay sent you...

Great to see another track junkie on here. My two local tracks are Brainerd and Road America, only two I've been to so far. My current car is a 2010 Roush 427R. I'm running 20" Roush wheels with Mickey Thompson Street Comps, 275/35/20 but just purchased some new Firestone Indy 500's. Looking at going to 18" wheels. I don't trailer my car, have to drive it to events so slicks are out. I'm paraplegic and drive with hand controls so have an automatic. My next event is BIR Sept 20th. I run thru their Performance Driving School. One of the fastest tracks in the country. 2.5 mile short track and 3.1 mile Donneybrooke that runs down the dragstrip... :) Running a dual track day which runs 2 sessions on the short track in the am and then 4 sessions in the afternoon on the long track. Paul Newman Winning video has quite a bit of footage of him on the old Donneybrooke track.
Road America I usually run with Northwoods Shelby. Links to both.

Hope to meet you on the track someday!

Hey Mike,

I just replied to your IM. Great looking Mustang! If I am not mistaken, didn't you have a track prepped C5?

Hey Chip, I sure did! '04 Corvette C5 with full roll cage, fire suppression, race seats, 6 pt. harnesses, etc.

I tracked the C5 for about 9 years before selling it and making the Mustang GT my full-time road course car.

Thanks, Mike
