why'd you cut the hoses short, but not all the way to the barbs on the fittings? would be cleaner look

Cut what hoses so short, the OE plastic tubes? They're not hoses, per say, they're hard plastic line.

Hell, you ever try to pull the fitting out of one of those? I may do that later, it is not a daily driver.

Still beats paying 100s when you can do it yourself.

Oh, yeah yeah, I could slide the braided hose all the up to the neck of the fitting. Just didn't think about it too much...

Right. Just cut the hard tube in line with the hose, but not too deep as to get into the barbs and the hose will pull right off then and then the braided goes on the fitting.

You don't have to cut the lines, you can pull the barb fittings off. A little heat helps a lot, even just leaving it in the sun for 10 minutes. That way, if you ever wanted to go back to totally stock, you still have the "un-cut" factory lines. ;)

I mixed and matched from all the quick disconnects from the 4.0 in my engine swap. It was very easy and looks factory installed.

Not a bad looking catch can. Better than the ridiculous prices that companies like JLT charge.

Humm, I want to try this. Anyone know if the PCV quick-detach fittings (the plastic pieces with the green detach button) can be bought directly? I don't really want to cut up my stock hose. Part numbers would be great.

The quick-detach fittings look a lot like the ones on the fuel filter, with that little green button...

I did not buy new hoses, I just cut mine. You can buy the snap on
fittings, just not sure where. No need to pay $30.00, there are used
ones on eBay

Can buy a used one on ebay for $16.00

Looks good. If you want that can to work even better move it away from the engine. A cooler catch can will condense more oil.

I did a ton of research into making my own catch can a year ago. I was gonna get a liquor flask, stick 2 fittings on the top, and on the can intake side have a tube that goes almost to the bottom. I believe that would have been extremely effective. I also believe any track safety tech would have kicked me to the curb.

You are correct about the tube going to the bottom. I modified my JLT catch can with a brass tube that extends 2/3 of the way down - based on some loose experiments, it helped catch about 10% more oil.

works well

you can carefully get the plastic lines off of the fitting with a razor blade.

I then slip -10 a/n over the ends. Before that, I put some electrical heat shrink tubing over the braided line. I then shrink the tubing onto the fitting/braided line. Looks fairly proper.
