My father was an insurance adjuster and it was pretty simple with the insurance companies he regularly dealt with.
If the repair costs plus the salvage value exceeded the total value, it was a write-off.

This is not exactly true. The money for the repair comes from a different pot then money for a rental car. If the car takes two months to repair, a 2 month rental car and it's cost is not considered in the total cost of repair. Then today, usually an air bag setoff is enough to total the car because of liability issues. A new Q50 got totaled just because an airbag was stolen out of a seat at a dealership. The insurance company sold it as salvage and the yard installed a used seat and sold it as repairable marking the title forever.

Everything is painted. They were wet sanding today. I had them leave just the center diffuser section on the bumper black, painted the sides. They’re waiting on their graphics guy to mock up my vinyl. I guess they had to paint the door for blending or something. So maybe Tuesday or Wednesday.

Not a clue. I haven’t seen a single piece of paperwork or invoicing. I did purchase the side and window scoops along with the tail lights. I’m getting a check for those and the car is getting fixed. So beyond that I really don’t care if it costs a bizillion dollars or two. I guess I will get some paperwork with the return of the car. I’ll see what they say.

I am not suggesting you don't spend the money. I just wondered how much this might cost be it $1000 or $10,000 or $100,000.

I'm not sure you know what is going on, I'm not spending any money so I'm a little confused. The insurance is fixing the car. the other guy's insurance. It's not costing me anything but the $6/day for the rental car.

Well CarFax will list your car and give the total damage of both cars. The insurance damage is a public figure and Carfax is real quick to pick that up. Those are the figures I was interested in.

The invoice at the shop was 6700, plus I bought 660 in parts.

Sorry for the bad lighting but I quickly snapped these when I got home.

The bumper cover is a little off and I’m gonna bring it back later to see what we can do about it. The alignment is slightly off on both sides by about 1/16”. But it is actually better than it was before this accident so not too much of a big deal.

I’m not sold yet on the window scoops. Maybe I’m just not used to them. Maybe I need to get the Cervinis ducktail and Eleanor type hood to complete the look. Hmmmmm.

She looks great. I have the same rear bumper as you and the alignment is the same no matter what i did. Did you paint the whole car, she looks so shiny.

Sorry for your troubles and glad she's back on the road. I went through something similar in 2009 (hydroplaned same rear corner into the divider) and was scared they'd total it, but insurance paid. Would you have had to provide receipts with the parts list or just the list and date installed? I have well over $50K into this car and I know I don't have all the receipts.
