I’m about to be permanently removing door panels as part of my weight reduction track build. I’ve noticed on images there is some black glue type stuff with a piece of clear plastic over it stuck to the metal door. Is this 3m strip caulking? I just wanna know if my usual WD40 cleaning method will easily remove this stuff. It removes the 3m stuff. Anyone know what that stuff is?

it's similar to 3M strip calk and WD40 will remove it.
be cautioned removing it with WD40, it will be extremely messy. my suggestion is start with a heat gun and a plastic scraper. once most of it's removed then use WD40.

It usually just comes off with the plastic as you remove it from the door. Any remnants left on the door are easily removed. WD40 would work fine. Don't see any need for a heat gun. It's a very light duty adhesive.
