Car was badly damaged in an accident few months ago. Certain frame and body are toast. Motor, tranny, axle, suspension, brakes, front end of car and interior are still fine. Car had 25k miles on it. Ideally I’d like to swap over all the cobra parts to s197 mustang. I loved this car. So I’m looking for the least expensive route to keep the heart of my car still alive. If anybody can help me find a body n frame? And an idea of how much it would cost I’d appriciate it thank u!

I wish I would have heard about this a few months ago. I had a guy who finally decided to crush a spare gt body he had. :(

I hope you can find a good shell and start transferring stuff. Honestly, if you are good with a wrench or willing to learn to be you should be able to transfer stuff over with no cost unless you find broken items that need to be replaced on parts you transfer over or broken on the rolling body you find.

Also, i am interested in that gt500 front bumper, headlights, grill and all if you don't need it on the car you transfer to.

I would go get a nice donor car and swap stuff over. Might even look into a v6. Was it a solo accident or were there other parties involved? I guess I’m asking about insurance.

Well he’s got the car so he either bought it back from insurance, or didn’t have collision or never turned it in and just ate it.

IMO, you have two choices (pick oneO:

1. Find another body/shell and swap things over.
2. Part it out & sell everything off.

Sorry your ride got toasted, but it's replaceable & there are many more Ford fish in the sea.

That would be true if he backed into something very hard.

This is a sad thread, but it got me thinking about my insurance coverage. I just dropped comprehensive, collision, and rental reimbursement on my Mustang and F-150 and will save about $450 a year. Been wasting money on that crap for a few years since I have more money worth of aftermarkets parts than the car is worth.

Not necessarily. You can have liability without Collision coverage.
Well there is several ways to think about this. He back into a wall at 30mph or someone hit him in the rear at around 30mph. One would be collision and the other would be the other guys liability.

Whatever. You kinda like to argue about insurance in these threads (Boss’ thread for example). Point being, owner has the car back, howfuckingever he got it, and like said above, get a clapped out V6 and swap everything over. Should be fairly cheap.

Reason why I asked is there was no mention of any insurance money. That would be the deciding factor in what to do. My query also extends to if someone hit him why would he still have the car if he did not intend to swap the parts over? And if he did it himself I would want to know how. If he got too sideways at that speed and wrecked it on a public road I would tell him to part it out because maybe it is too much power for him. Plus I kinda want to know what happened.

That’s not a Cobra.

It wears Cobra badges from the factory.
While it's not a common thing to call the GT500 a Cobra, I've seen it and heard it many times, and I'm fine with it.
My wife doesn't call her '08 GT500 a Cobra, but we also don't correct people when they might call it a Cobra at a car show.

It's ok to be curious how it happened, but it is no one's business, "if it is too much power for him." That's ridiculous.

On an unrelated note, as far as it being a Cobra or not, correct it is not a Cobra as SVT own's that licensing. Yes the GT500 was built by SVT, but the GT500 is licensed by Shelby which didn't originally sport the name Cobra, so technically it's not a Cobra. HOWEVER, that is not relevant to this thread, so stating, "That's not a Cobra" wasn't even necessary. Let's move on.

Lots of fail stuff on "You Tube" filmed at various car shows that when the throttle is mashed, it does a 180 into a parked car. Meaning, do not think it's cool to park at an entrance to a car show.
