I'll have to try and find that article. I just looked at some pics of the SS/AH cars with autos and some guys screwed the radials and some didn't. Everyone with an auto used radial slicks and a higher air pressure, while stick guys used the rag slicks as we did and only ran 9psi. The beads look good when we changed out the slicks and with over 1K in HP.

Spinning a tire that's screwed would be a really bad thing.

I found that article, here: http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/a4acd0f8#/a4acd0f8/72
If for some reason the link doesn't work it's in the June 2016 Race Pages (yes I know nearly 2 years ago, not 1, what's the saying time flies when you're having fun lol.)

Yes that's a real safety issue. It looked like the one they had for an example only had about 5 screws in it. If memory servers me right we had 15 screws but also like I sad we ran bias-ply slicks. For the extra weight of the bead locks vs wrecking you car is a small price to pay. What glue did you use? It looked like weather strip adhesive. They were talking about Hi-Tack.

I used the Permatex super high tack gasket sealer like they suggest in that same article, I think I'm going to give that one more shot before throwing in the towel since those Weld Magnums are so damn expensive, I'll just use more of the high tack than I did last time hopefully it will hold.

It's been a little bit since I've posted, I haven't done a whole lot of the summer since my racing budget has been pretty tight and the weather has been ridiculously hot! In any case I have done a few things, mostly including new tires on all 4 corners, new alum DS and a few other odds and ends. I won't get into why it took 3 months to get my alum DS...here's a few pics

A buddy of mine recently acquired a fox body, he's been working on it all summer.

He was taking it to the track for the first time last weekend, so I decided to go too and take my car.
Here's our pit area:

It was sooo damn hot though, it was literally well over 90 degrees, really closer to 95 degrees. Needless to say my car ran like shit, it went 9.4x @ 148 a couple times, with some wheel hop on the 1-2 shift. It was a good time but way too hot still.

I need to figure out the wheel hop issue, as this is something new. I think previously the tires were spinning but now that I have brand new tires they're causing wheel hop, I'm not sure why yet. I'm also looking into a different torque convertor, since my current one is only stalling at 3000 which results in 60' times in the 1.4x range. I think it should stall closer to 4400-4500 to leave nice. Although on a positive note, it does leave perfectly straight now with that anti-roll bar! What a difference, no more gangster lean lol.

All in all, my car ran 9.40's @ 148 in the blistering heat and humidity, and I didn't break anything, I'll consider that a good day anytime! Also coming soon is a parachute.

Nice, cooler weather headed your way! I'm depressed I never made it to the localish 1/8th mile track this summer, just to many other things going and I really need a trailer at this point.

Yes I can't wait, still in the 90's here every day, we've been breaking or tying heat records all week! Quit slacking and get your bad ass car to the track lol! And get a trailer..

Great looking ride and that Fox is sick too!!

Thanks, you should have seen that fox body before it was transformed to its current state, it was orange and black with a stripe down the middle with a 3" cowl hood and big ass ugly forward facing hood scoop! Fugly! Actually i found a pic:

One Tigvision parachute mount installed today..a very nice price all 4130 chromoly, weighs less than the oem rear bumper, bolts right on perfectly. Now I need to install the handle and run the cable, etc. And of course decide if I'm going to cut up my custom tag..IDK about that lol.

I usually go to Bradenton, it's about an hour and a half drive from my house, but I like it much better than Immokalee.
Thats a bit of a trek from the estates but Id still like to go one day. I hear really good things about it. Isnt there a big even every year? I cant remember the name but I know a buddy of mine went last year.

Yes, actually there are a few big events there each year, depending what you like. I usually go to the Snowbird Outlaw Nats in December, US Street Nats in January, NMRA Race in March and this year I might go to the NMCA race in March also. I've only been lucky enough to compete in the NMRA race but maybe someday I'll get to do more.

I got to install the handle for the parachute cable today after work, I'm pleased with how it came out. I welded a bracket onto the trans tunnel for the handle mount, then bolted another bracket to hold the cable.

Next I need to cut the cable to length, and install the chute. Then It's time to test it out that should be interesting, I've never pulled a chute before.

After doing some research I ordered a pair of DA Viking shocks for the rear, they are sexy!

When I removed my SA Strange shocks I found them to have almost zero compression resistance, there's a very good possibility this is why I was having the tire shake issues. Those shocks aren't that old either, amazing.

I also finally got around to finishing the chute install over the weekend, it looks pretty good, and should add I'm thinking at least 10rwhp LOL.
