I am starting my own thread on this because the ones I've seen here and elsewhere mention issues unrelated to my problem or the thread never found closure. Here's what I've done so far to attempt fixing this:

I've replaced the alternator with a TYC brand, and the battery is a two year old Optima Red Top. The alternator puts out .031mv of AC voltage, and the battery produces 14.3DCV at 3000rpm. The cam sensor wires and VCT solenoid wires have been tested for continuity, voltage, and frame to ground. I've also checked continuity at the MAF sensor pigtail to rule out a failed common splice point at the cam sensor and MAF sensor wires. The cam sensors have also been replaced with an Autozone brand. I've visually inspected the cam phaser reluctors for damage and found nothing. PCM has been replaced as well. If you are reading this through a mobile device and can't see the mod list in my sig, I have Livernois stage 4 turbo cams with lockouts and the setup tuned by Lito.

The car has no driveability issues and I'm not sure what else to inspect or replace besides attempting to re-time the engine and replace the Autozone cam sensors with Ford OE. I found an article mentioning to monitor the PIDs below to make sure the PCM is not trying to command more cam retard than what is allowed and to look for VCT fault codes.
RCAM, VCTFAULT, VCTERROR1, VCTERROR2, VCTDC1, VCTDC2, VCTSYS
Does this sound right?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can you save us the hassle of looking up a bunch of codes and list your codes with the basic descriptions?

P0340 - Cam position sensor circuit malfunction bank1
P0344 - Cam position sensor A circuit intermittent bank1
P0345 - Cam position sensor A circuit malfunction bank2
P0349 - Cam position sensor A circuit intermittent bank2

I saw this too and that's where I got the idea to check the reluctors. Mine look fine. The other possibility is that the chains skipped a tooth during first startup when this engine was put together. But I would think this would give me other codes.

Whats the background on when the faults started, ie what was done to the car. I dont know what all you have done, but you could also try and replace the crank position sensor. But really sounds like it needs tore down and phasers looked at and timing verified.

Good question. I bought this car from a forum member already built. Has the cams mentioned above with lockouts and Comp steel springs and retainers on stock heads. It's a 326 stroker put together 5k miles ago I'm pretty sure. I've heard the crank position sensor being mentioned too so I can give that a try.

I'm going to test resistance across the cam sensors and VCT solenoids and post my numbers here too. I tried to do a compression test to see if cam timing is off without having to take off the front cover, but it turns out the 3v spark plug threads are not "universal" so I had to order an adapter.

My car and my kids car with the locked cam phasers throw these codes, I don't know why but I just look past it now, Manuel has assured me everything looks good on the logs so I'm not going to worry about it. Cars run fine! IDK

Compression came out to 150+ on the passenger side. #5 and 6 were close to 160 and 7 and 8 were around 145. This was done on a cold motor so I did it wrong, but I did this to look for bank to bank differences to rule out cam degreeing errors. I'll log the VCT related PIDs tonight and see what I come up with.

Testing resistance on the VCT solenoids gave me 9-10 ohms, and the cam sensors were at 346 and 360 ohms. I get 11+ DCV when probing the VCT solenoid connectors with key on/engine off.

I should mention the codes come back like clockwork on the second startup cycle after I clear the codes.

I am back with sorta good news. I got some intel from the PO and he told me the cams were degreed 10 degrees advanced from the ICL on the cam card. I retarded them 14 degrees, putting me at 4 degrees away from the suggested ICL. The driver's side is at 114.5, and I got the passenger side at 114 degrees. I replaced the chain tensioners and timing cover gasket while in there. I noticed the crank trigger wheel was nicked up so I replaced that as well.

Now the bank2 cam codes (P0345 and P0349) are gone. I am left with P0340 and P0344. P0010 just appeared.

P0340 - Cam position sensor circuit malfunction bank1
P0344 - Cam position sensor circuit intermittent bank1
P0010 - Cam postiion actuator circuit bank1

All three are bank1 codes so there's something going on in the passenger side. I opened the valve cover again to see if anything is out of place, but found nothing. Any suggestions are welcome.

You could swap cam position sensors just to rule out the possibility you got a bad sensor.
