okay so I own a 2008 mustang (4.0L v6) and my goal is to slowly build up the car piece by piece (hints the username). I have a massive list of things I want to do but currently the biggest project is swapping the stock rear end with an 8.8 limited slip out of a 2005 GT. I already have the rear end and I plan on cleaning up the rust a little bit, giving it a nice coat of paint, and maybe replacing some seals before I put it in just for peace of mind. I’ve heard that I might need to change the pinion flange/yoke for it to hook up to my stock drive shaft, is this the case? Would it be possible to just switch the yoke with the one on my stock rear end?

All you need to adapt the 8.8 into your Base V6 is the Cobra Pinion Flange

Search Ford Performance part number M-4851-B and you'll find them

Easy swap and as said get the cobra flange and swap it and it is a direct fit after that.

I’d strongly recommend getting lower gears installed so you can really enjoy the 8.8 upgrade. The gears make a big difference! I have 3.73s on my 4.0 and it’s a great all around gear. Others recommend 4.10s if you don’t mind the higher RPMs on the interstate.
