Granted the MPSS is a great tire and would probably last me a bit longer than the others , but is that price difference per tire worth it????
I have 13 track days on mine (guessing maybe 1000 track miles), plus somewhere north of 5000 street miles. They're about half worn based on tread depth, maybe a bit more than half worn on the outboard shoulders. They get rotated side to side at each event, but have been rotated front to rear only once (different wheel offsets).

Here's what the worst one looked like after 10 track days. They were still datalogging over 1.2g's in the corners (about a tenth off when they were in their prime).

I think the point is don't look for the least expensive you can find. I tried the Firehawks because they got great reviews. They also happen to be low priced and out perform some of the more expensive I have tried.

Mickey Thompson street comps. Grippy as hell in the dry.

Made by Cooper tires for M/T. My only gripe is that they're made in China.

Continental DW or their replacements, I think it's the Continental Contact Sport

Me too...but my 'stang "just a driver" to me...kept stock. I hung up my driving shoes and helmet years ago. 75 years old...know my skills and reflexes have diminished.

I live in the swamplands of Oregon, can testify that the Contis handle rain driving quite well. Snow? I just wait for it to melt here since it seldom lasts long.

The firehawks are a huge bang for the buck. I have MPSS on the rears.. but they are not cheap. Fronts are Nitto NT-555. The NT-555 G2 new version is a good tire too. Competition is good. Back in the 70's there was dick to pick from.....and everything was essentially junk. BF goodrich radial ta was the hot item.

As far as good wet traction is concerned, it's going to be pretty darn hard to find tires much better than Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Maybe the newer PS4S is a bit better, but that one does come with some very specific caveats concerning temperatures down around/below 20°F.

Norm

I have the PS4S on my fusion sport. I can't really tell the difference between wet and dry traction (not hydroplaning of course). It's astonishing how good they are on wet pavement cornering, I really don't understand how they do it.

I've had the Firestone Indy 500's for 2 years and they are hands down the best bang for the buck. I have not found a better tire in the rain than these.

On a side note, I will never understand why anyone would run an all-season tire on a mustang. The only season that they will out-perform a proper summer tire is in winter and anyone who thinks that an all-season is okay in freezing conditions is just plain crazy. Maybe on a AWD car but not on anything else-and especially a RWD muscle car.

BF Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2. Pretty good wet traction at the temperatures we have around socal. Probably not so great as temps drop lower. I Love them though.
I've had these tires on my 2014 GT/CS for 17,000 miles -- they're far better than the stock Pirelli PZeros!

Edit: Looks like you have the summer version. I had those also, prior to the all season version that I have now. At the time I was in Atlanta -- they were great, wet and dry, in temperatures higher than 50 degrees -- below 50 the performace dropped considerably, as would be expected from a summer tire...

I ran Nitto NT-555's (the older version) when I still had my 17's and they rode like crap. Handled good but awful on rough pavement (which there is a lot of here)

This ↑↑↑

On an AWD car in the cold and up to light snow, performance all-seasons are generally OK. Deeper snow, maybe not so good.

Having driven mustangs year round since high school (40 years) the only problem I've had is with 245/60 Firestone SS on a 69 mustang back in the mid 80s and same tires on a 79 indy pacecar edition I drove everyday for over 9 years. In fact, I spun the 79 in a snow storm on Christmas day in 87. Came to rest with the back end in the ditch. I cleared the snow away and drove out. Then there was my last mustang, an 06, which I had Cooper Zeon RS3-A s on it and when those wore out I got a deal on Yokohamas. The Yokohamas sucked and was intending to replace them with another set of Coopers till I sold it. The 06 performed well with the Coopers regardless of weather conditions.

I have a 2011 (~33K) now and recently replaced the original Pirellis with new Cooper Zeon RS3-GI. I've not been disappointed. And yes, I drive it year round in Ohio.

Yup, summer version. I just stay out of the higher mountains (>5000ft) during winter storms.

I found a good deal on some Falken Azenis FK450. Technically an UHP all season tire, but I can get a set of them for a good $200+ less than the Firehawks- and since I am going to have to buy tires for my truck in the next few months as well I need to save a few bucks where I can. I think the Falkens should be good, can't really be worse than the OE Pirelli P-Zero Nero's that I'm running right now.

I have not run the FK 460s, but have run a few flavors of Falkens. I ran Ziek series all seasons before the Coopers and they were good. Just got a little noisy toward the end. I ran several sets of the Azenis 615Ks great summmer tire, but the price of them kept creeping up & up. Not so great a deal now.

Atturo tires Az850 in 315/35R 20 is what I took off this week, loved them! Picked up some Atturo Az800 this week in 315/35 r20, I swear they will dry hook a dirt road. For $260 a PAIR they are absolutely impossible to beat.

Hm, I've never even seen those before. Good reviews though. Might have to give them some consideration.

The tread sorta reminds me of the R888. The guys a discount thought they were R888 and we're talking about how expensive they are, major shock when I told them that all in all it's $300 for 2 tires shipped, mounted, and balanced.

How long have you been running them? They are a really good price but I can't help but be suspicious of cheap tires.
