So what now? I have a new convertor on its way that will allow me to leave about 1000-1200 rpm higher and build some decent boost. My current convertor only stalls at 3000-3100 rpm which gives me about 5 psi at launch. ProTorque is building me a custom 10" convertor with a billet stator and mechanical diode w/ multi-disc lockup. It should stall b/w 4000-4400 rpm and hopefully build 10 psi or so, should be a nice addition and if all goes well it will allow me to leave with enough power to get into the 1.2x 60' range. The next thing will be bead locks, which I cannot afford at the moment..Weld is very proud of those!
Racestar has nice bead locks. Summit has them for $280 a wheel. I dont know how they compare price wise to Welds though.

That car was on a pass! Lol, I should have said that earlier.
Your car makes me feel great about 4r swapping mine, seeing one go that fast is awesome. Lito said this was all done on the stock PCM, where are you shifting it at, have you hit any walls related to RPM?

Yea, it's a pretty fun ride for sure! Yes it's running off a stock 5r55s PCM that he re-flashed the strategy to make it think it's a manual transmission, this is since my 4r70 is MVB. I'm shifting as fast as I can lol, but It's around 7300 rpm or so, no issues, the rpm limit can be raised to whatever' needed. As a matter of fact, I was kissing the rev limiter on my first pass (8.90) but then he raised it a bit on the 8.87 pass.

There for a while before I change rear gears and stuff, I was shifting that 7550 and had the rev limiter set to 7800

This inspired me to look back at my datalog, I was wrong, on the 1-2 shift I'm shifting about 7100 but the 2-3 and when I lock in the convertor is about 7750.

Have you ever hit a wall with the factory PCM and how far it will rev?

I did some more research on this and it looks like 7750 is all anybody can get out of it under power without over spinning and hitting a rev limiter that is hard set by the manufacturer of the PCM and not Ford. 7800 is the hard limit set by the manufacturer

I haven't seen anyone try to override that limiter with HP Tuners, only SCT. I have HP Tuners if anyone wants to give it a go

Well it's been awhile since I posted, we just wrapped up high season at work and I'll finally get some time to wrench on my car again for a bit lol. I did manage to get 5/8" drive studs drilled into my axles.

Also, I sold my RT-S71 wheels and two months in the making, I finally got my new bead locks! These things are pretty bad ass I must say! It's also kinda cool to be able to mount the tires at home without a tire machine.

Also got a pair of Alumastar 2.0's for the front

Changed the whole look of the car in a good way, can't wait to get it off the jack stands and see how it looks with the tires tucked nice under the fenders, etc.

Also, three months in the making, I finally got my new convertor in last week! I pulled my old one out over the weekend, installed the new one and wouldn't you know it the air gap was too tight at .023", (spec is .125 - .187) just my luck, ended up coming back out just a few minutes after installation, looks like it will be going back to Protorque to be shortened. The new one is about .300" longer than my old one, this is a poor pic but good enough to see what I'm referring to.

So once I get this issue with the convertor figured out, I should be ready to go back to the track to test it out. I'm also eyeballing a set of LTH 2" headers though, we'll see what happens with that.

Great update. Are you talking about the convertor snout body itself? I ask because with the naked eye, it appears even with the cap on the new unit it appears shorter.

It's not the snout / pilot, I measured both of those and they're the same at .850". When installed in the car, and with the convertor pushed back into the tranny as far as it will go up against the pump, there's only .023" clearance b/w the mounting pads and the flex plate. There's supposed to be b/w .125 - .187

Love the bead locks, looking forward to the stance pics. Good luck with the converter.

Thanks!

Sweet shit!

Thanks!

The car should look good with the new wheels. And that's about my luck with you converter. It's been awhile since I have been on here too, just a little longer.

After providing them with all the measurements, Protorque sent a call tag today for me to ship the convertor back to them to be adjusted. one of the reasons I opted to go for a new convertor vs. getting my old one re-stalled again was to avoid down time, so much for that! It beats the alternative though where if I didn't catch it, I learned that lesson many years ago with my fox body, at the time I had an Art Carr C4 and convertor that was too long, it rubbed against the pump and spread metal shavings throughout the whole tranny, had to get a full rebuild on both the tranny and convertor.
