Jacking rails part 2

I watched a couple videos of guys demonstrating them, so I have an idea...I may try one out off the car as a test first to see how it is though.

On my 06, the forward holes are threaded but the rear holes are bigger and not threaded. Both sides the same. That's extremely annoying. I'm putting in a BMR K-member and was planning on using these since I'll lose my front middle jacking point. Think they'd be fine with just the front pair of holes on the rear? It's really only holding a small amount of weight that's already persuaded into staying up by the front mounts. I can't imagine it making a difference when it comes to using the rails.

On these the fronts slide underneath the rear part of the K-member and use the bolts there...I hope you have bolts there.

Yes lol. I'm saying the forward of the 2 rear holes is threaded on my car, but the rear of the two rear holes aren't.

Ahhh now I gotcha. That's weird too.

Alright so I actually got this done tonight.

Took me a little while to figure out how to set the rivnuts. Trying to use the tool as it appeared to be made to use, the rivnuts were just spinning in the holes and I was getting nowhere. I took a break and watched a couple youtube vids and figured it out.

I pretty much ended up taking off the nut and just using the spacer and a couple washers with the bolt (so I was just tightening the bolt against the rivnut). Then I put the rivnut on the bolt, gripped it with vise grips and turned the bolt against it a little so it was just starting to expand in the crimp part. Then, I used a hammer to knock the rivnut (still on the bolt) into the hole. By doing this it grabbed just enough that I was able to tighten the bolt against the rivnut and it crimped into the hole flush just like it was supposed to.

Seems strong enough for this application at least. Got everything bolted up and it all looks good.

Glad you got it all worked out, ghunt81! The first time you use them to jack your car up and realize how easy the rails make the process, it will be worth all of your headaches.

Real Riv tool should look like this. Anything else is going to suck. Once you buy one, you'll find all sorts of fun stuff to do with it. And it's really the only way to do Jeep fenders, which require about a million of the stupid things...

I mean I'm sure that's faster if you have to install a bunch of them, I only had to install 2.

Pair those rails with a QuickJack system and enjoy the spoils of your victory. I really want to get one.
