Hey guys I need help spit balling ideas of what my issue is. The symptoms my car is experiencing are as follows:
-a loud squeal coming from the front half of the car
-only happens when driving not in neutral
-only happens at 1500 rpms in all gears
I just replaced the belt thinking that it was a bad belt and the noise is still there. I thought maybe when I did a coolant flush that coolant got on some of the pulleys so I washed them off with degreaser and nothing has changed. I'm thinking maybe a bad idler pulley or tensioner. the only thing is I checked my pullies for play and they are all good. My car only has 64k miles on it. Please let me know what yall might think it is. I will try to get a video of it happening asap.

take of the belt and start the Engine if it is quiet then it is something beltdriven, waterpump, tenisoner, generator, ACpump,
Look for some "damp" spots near the waterpump axel.
If it is the waterpump it probably soon begin to leek and that will most likely make it stop sqeal.

Take off the belt and start the engine. If it is quiet then it is something belt driven

The first step is to start the engine with the belt on and use a mechanic's stethoscope to localize the noise. It might be difficult to access some of the pulleys in which case you move onto step two.
The second step is to remove the drive belt and restart the engine to see if the noise disappears. If so, you'll know it originates from a belt driven pulley.
The third step is to immediately switch the engine off again and spin each pulley (water pump, PS pump, AC compressor, alternator, idlers, tensioner) by hand to see which one makes a funny noise.

You changed the coolant.
The waterpump bearing are lubricated from the coolant.
Modern coolants are less lubricatin than old ones.
The noise came soon after coolant shift.
Thats way I think it is the waterpump.
No big deal you can get an new one from rookauto for 23 $

Try spraying some belt dressing on the belt. Maybe the coolant got on the belt and washed off some 'stickiness' or made it a bit slippery and as things load up as RPM's rise, it is squealing a bit. A cheap and easy try before you start replacing things.

Do NOT spray the belt with dressing. You know it isn't the belt since you replaced it. Normally you can check the various bearings while the car is running by LIGHTLY spraying each bearing with WD-40 or water. If the squeal goes away after the spray that is your culprit bearing. Your situation is odd given it only happens while in gear driving at 1500 RPM. I'd spray then drive one at a time. You can check if it is the belt by spraying the rib side with water while the car is running. As I said, it in;t the belt. You ruled that out already by replacing it.

so say I spray and it still doesn't go away then is it the tensioner?

Since said you got some coolant on the pulleys, perhaps you also got some on the belt - that was my thinking in spraying the belt with belt dressing. If you spray the belt with dressing, you will rule out a belt squeal. No harm done and actually maybe good for the belt. The tensioner pulleys have bearings in them (I removed the tensioners/idlers and got the bearing part numbers and changed my bearings in those rather than the whole component - cheaper that way) - just push them out and press in the new bearings) and the tensioners and idlers are easy and cheapest to change . Other components like the water pump, A/C and alternator will cost much more to replace. I like the idea of removing the belt and spinning each device to see if you can reproduce the squeal or see what is giving the most resistance. I wouldn't spray water on any exposed bearings either - but a good lube spray like "Spray 9" or something else. Hopefully you can access the bearings to spray them, but I really doubt that you can access them too well to get them lubed a bit because most have a rubber seal to keep moisture etc out.

You didn't follow the steps I advised earlier so from that video, I can only guess. It's possible that the belt is slipping.

That sounds like a bearing to me.
Belts don't normallt slip unless they are loose for whatever reason (old for example) or under heavy load and then let off quickly...

A vehicle stethescope or a super long screw driver would help you locate the noise.

My hearing sux (tinnitus) so all I hears was wind noise. We can play this guessing game all day, but what's the issue w/taking your car into a svs shop for their assessment...?? They have the tools/talent to nail-down your squeal vs. us taking SWAG's at source...IMO.

anyone got any ideas?

Yes, re-read the previous posts and try a few of those ideas.

It's a bearing. As I said, spray them and you'll likely find the culprit.

If you still think it is the belt, spray the belt with water, not dressing, on the rib side while it is running and the squeal will go away if it is a bad belt or a pulley out of alignment.

Yes, Windstang, good bearings are sealed, bad bearings aren't. That's why they are bad. A light spray of water won't hurt good bearings. If you ever drive in the rain or wash your car it doesn't ruin bearings.

It was the catalytic converters head shield. The tack came loose on it and caused the noise. It ended up getting worse and worse until it was more of a rattle than a s squeak. I went to exhaust shop after I figured it out paid 20 bucks and it’s fixed. I spent so much time trying to figure this out and went through everything that had a bearing in the belt drive. Finally peace at last
