Need a bit of advice here, I have just swapped out my 4.6L 3v for a rebuilt 4.6L 3v. I was very meticulous at labelling all of my connections, prior to pulling out the old motor. However not so much at the labelling 02 plug in sensors. Can anyone help me with wich plug in( at the harness) is for which side 02 sensor(s) in my long tubes headers? I can't find this info anywhere including my Ford manuals...

Aren’t the front and rear sensor connectors different colors? Blue and green I think. I also believe the little tabs are clocked in two different orientations. Could be wrong though, been a while since I’ve been under there.

The harness going back to the transmission should branch out into two sections. One section should have O2 sensor, speed sensor, and back up light sensor in one bundle or at least taped together and this is for the drivers side/left side. The other section be a lone sensor for the O2 sensor on the right side/passenger side. Pretty sure that's how mine is and hope this helps.

If you're talking about the O2 sensors before the cats I can't remember for sure. But if you get them crossed the wires should be barely long enough to make it. If the wires are tight with very little slack you might have them crossed.

Differentiating between the front plugs and the rear plugs should be pretty easy, but it's easier to mix up the two front O2 sensors and the car will run horrible if you mix them up. I mixed them up when I pulled my trans and I ended up having to use the wiring diagram to figure it out.

Here's the wiring diagram for the O2 sensors. All of the O2 sensor plugs should have a red/yellow wire and a grey/red wire.

The right side rear O2 sensor will have a white/black and red/light green wire.
The left side rear O2 sensor will have a violet/light green and a tan/yellow wire.
The right front is red/white and grey/light blue.
The left front is red/black and yellow/light blue.
