I have this all over. Bought the car like this. It was raining that day. I have intentions to repaint or reclear it. What causes this type of damage? The whole front of the vehicle is like this.

Are the recessed chips? Looks like hard water spots to me but if they're 3D its just a chipping of the clear coat, meaning a stone chip that only took the clear not the base color.

They are recessed like bird shit sat on it or something. But it's all over the front end. I've never seen paint like this. It's horrible.

What "skwerl" said.......crappy Clear Coat.....probably accelerated it too much and it was brittle with a poor bond to the Base Coat!! I had it happen on a Crown Vic once.....especially the flexible bumper cover!!:(

Because of your situation (raining when purchased), maybe it's worth a discussion w/dealership...be honest (recall the day of purchase/conditions) and see if they're willing to cut you a deal on fixing the flaw...worth a try...IMO.
